| Thoughts from Genesis |
|
I ventured into reading my Bible after a talk with a friend recently. It took me a few days to get motivated, but I dove right in. I'm reading in Genesis, and for the first time finding it fairly fascinating.
These are just a few of the scriptures, and maybe a thought or two.
"The waters flooded the earth for a hundred and fifty days." Genesis 7:24
You know this is amazing to me. Think about it. 150 days on a giant boat. Now lets put it into perspective.
150 days, you are trapped on this boat. You are 600 years old! You are with animals the entire time. Animals eat, and animals poop! I mean think about it. I am sure they cleaned out their stalls (at least I hope they did), or whatever Noah had built for the animals to reside in ... but we are talking some serious animals. That's a lot of poop! I just can't get past the smell. Then he was on it 40 more days, before Noah opened the window ... and a few weeks more on the boat after that. That's a long time on a boat.
But, thank God for sparing man!
"... the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision: Don't be afraid, Abram. I am your sheild,
your very great sword." Genesis 15:1
God doesn't want us to be afraid. Time and time again he says Do not be afraid, Fear not ...
He also is our sheild, our refuge, our strength, our sword, our shelter .. the list goes on. I'm just amazed that God knew to repeat this type of scripture through out time for us! The situations in which he says them are all differnt just like the many different situations we face today. We need to be reminded sometimes when uncertainties face us. Don't be afraid! I am with you!
There was another scripture that I wanted to mention, and I didn't underline it. I will add it to my next post on my readings if I manage to find it.
Anyways these are my un-thought-out thoughts.
Thanks for looking.
