| Whose idea was it to get another dog?
And there was I really flattered being asked to be godmother. What a privilege I thought. Babe born in France so a bit of a delay in getting everyone together for a christening and by the time they moved back to the UK, another babe on the way. Lets wait and make it a joint christening they said.
Some 13 years later, we still haven’t had the church service but custom and practice have meant that I am an easy touch when it comes to the little extras that teenagers can’t do without. The only trouble is they never said anything about a dog.
So it is a lovely sunny Sunday morning and I want to go for a run whilst the streets are quiet, but Stanley has other ideas. The monster dashes into the porch and grabs the nearest shoe and runs madly out the back door.
Within seconds there we are running round the garden in various states of deshabille and Stanley thinks how wonderful and keeps hiding under the trampoline then dashing to the furthest corner and back again. If only I had been able to get my trainers on it wouldn’t have been so bad, but white towelling flip flops on wet grass meant I kept on slipping and sliding everywhere.
The crafty dog eventually traded the shoe for a bit of best ham, clever huh! But not before he used it to move a pooh that was tastefully laying in the garden.... I am so glad it wasn't my shoe.
At least it was a good warm up before my run.
