A couple of other interesting things happened at my appointment last week.
One, my doc isn't going to require that I do the standard 2 week liquid diet prior to surgery. This is usually required to help reduce the size of the liver so that it doesn't get in the way of all those laproscopic tools and risk injury to it.
Finally, a benefit to my fully-figured pear shape!
I was also invited to participate in a study regarding the lap band procedure. I'm not too sure yet what they are looking for but I can tell you that based on the in-take questionnaire, the researchers are very interested in my emotional state at the onset of this process. The questionnaire led me to the realization that all of the self-loathing, avoidance behaviors I've employed for most of my adult life are shared by other over weight people. It was something of an epiphany and I suddenly felt like I wasn't so dang darn alone.
Since my appointment, I have been bidding farewell to many foods with the expectation that either I won't be able to eat them or that I just won't want to. I am very happy right now.
Yay!
