 Who is God?
Let me say right up front, there is no God. Not in the way the majority of Americans think of God.

There is no angry father figure, blessing the Jews and the Arabs and all of those he so graciously allowed to benefit from his petty rules and regulations. (The Bible says you cannot believe unless he sends his holy spirit to make you believe. It does! look it up.)

There is no Giant God with his throne in heaven and earth as his footstool, and no matter how good you are, you're going to hell if you don't kneel before him. (But you can't kneel before him, unless he sends the Holy Spirit to make you believe. The Bible does not teach freedom of will. Go ahead, look it up!)

There is no personal God who manipulates what happens to you when you wish, I mean pray, hard enough.
But then again, your happiness doesn’t depend upon what happens to you so much as what you believe about what happens to you.

If there is a creator, it has to be feminine, not masculine. Perhaps it was a male and a female, but not a male alone. Male energy helps to sustain, but only female can create.

Yet, there are things about the ritual of religion that the human brain finds healthy, kind of like a tune up for your car. These things are singing, dancing, chanting, and meditation on solutions to problems. They work to balance the brain chemistry. They work when we do them alone in our living rooms but they work even better when we meet with the community and do it together. That is why you always felt better after a good church service - Not because there is a God!

But there are gods. There are deities that represent different types of energies. There are different kinds of energy. And we are beginning to be able to measure them.  This is science – not wives tales.

When we fix our minds on these types of energies, we draw more of that energy to us.
Now before you go off pooh-poohing me, read on. (I can’t believe pooh-pooh was in my spell checker!) If you are looking for a new car, don’t you notice the cars around you? If you want a new SUV don’t you notice the SUV’s around you? When you begin to draw out a certain type of energy, that’s what your brain focuses upon. Am I wrong?

Let me continue with the automobile analogy. Last year I was looking for a new car. Getting in and out of a car is very painful for someone with arthritis in their hips, knees and ankles. I loved those little cars that get great mileage and look so cute just because of their diminutive size. But I only had to try to get in and out of one Kia Rio to realize that it was not the car for me.

That made me want to see which car was right for me.  Now when I looked at vehicles, I focused on how far they are from the road because it seemed that the higher the better, well, to a point. Yet I didn’t want a gas guzzler.

Now I began to notice that there were little SUV’s. I called them toy SUV’s. Now they’re calling them crossovers.
When I first started looking for a car, I had no idea that they even existed. But the more I focused on the features I wanted, the more examples of what I wanted came my way.  On that Friday that I finally blew the engine in my old car, I was able to hone right in on what I wanted and I was the proud owner of one of those tiny SUV’s by Monday. Oh, and, by the way, I got the price I wanted, too.

Nothing supernatural about it. That’s how our brain works. But when you think about it, isn’t it magick? I’m not talking about magic; illusions performed by a trickster. I mean the Magick of the Universe. That our brains solve problems, that our skin is waterproof, that our eyes project pictures in our minds and that combining acid with lithium creates electricity!

Yes, yes, it’s science that acid and lithium create electricity, but why? It’s enough to make someone believe in God! Here we are on this planet, upon which life has died out three or four times and here we are, again, alive. It is as if the earth itself is the creator of life.
There is actually a scientific theory that the earth itself is an organism and we are like the little bacteria that live on her body, helping the process of life or destroying it, just like our bodies have good and bad bacteria. You can read about it here: http://www.unu.edu/unupress/lecture1.html

Were the ancients right? Was the old religion closer to the truth than the recently (comparatively speaking) created monotheistic religions?  Is the earth like our mother and she is becoming ill because we have caused a chemical imbalance?
It’s OK. If we change the atmosphere permanently, she will create a new life form to survive in the new atmosphere. She’s done it several times before.

That’s enough for anyone to think about for one day.

Well let me say i am not an american , so therefore my view of GOD must be completely different yeah. How dare you tell people there is no God. God is to one person someone completely different to another. God is someones belief. If you do not believe that, that is completely up to you. Do not shatter other peoples hopes and beliefs just to suit your own. Everyone is different. you have your views , they have theirs. I respct your belief just like you should respect others. In your first line of your entry, you said "there is no GOD".
You cannot proove that just like others cannot proove that there is. Belief is all that is needed.

If you really want corrections, then God sits on a 'throne'. It should be You're going to hell, not your and it should be 'Magic' of the Universe. Apart from that it is very well written, but I feel very sad that you feel so strongly about a God who you believe does not exist. Would you take the time to write an essay about Santa? Best wishes anyway.

Thank you for your responses. They were very helpful.

To Olp76:

I know what you/re saying. I believe rather than being “out there” it is “in here”. Read on.

To Bobbydi:
Please read this as if it were coming from a calm voice because I assure you, this is not an argument. It is meant as a clarification to your comments.

I used the word American because I know what Americans believe about God. I know about Christianity because I studied it very thoroughly for a good 15 years. I am an ordained minister of the church.
I have been lead to believe that, in general, Christians in other parts of the world don’t have the same view of Christianity. I believe that Christianity is more an integrated part of Europe’s culture such as you might say about the South here in America – the area we call the Bible Belt.

I can say this to you however. If there ever was a Jesus he would have never answered me with the tone of anger that you did. And beside that, you told a lie. You do not respect my opinion or you would not have answered in anger.

The Bible teaches that Jesus had the power to cleanse us from out besetting sins such as inappropriate anger, lack of hospitality and a holier-than-thou attitude.
Apparently, whichever god you believe in does not have that power because you are spitting anger like venom. You have no compassion for the non-believer. You are the proof that there is no such God.
Besides, as you said, this is my opinion and I can say it to whomever I want. That’s what a blog is about.

To Overthehillandfaraway.:

(It is very difficult to write your screen name without my fingers wanting to put spaces between the words. I had to try three times.)

Again, please read this as if it were coming from a calm voice because I assure you, this is not an argument. It is meant as a clarification to your comments. And thank you for your reasonable comments.

I was referring to the scripture that says that heaven is god’s thrown and the earth is his footstool. I don’t want to get into semantics. One of Jesus’ great criticisms of the established believers was that they embraced the letter of the Law in away that was never intended. I don’t believe either of us knows what the exact word was in the original language anyway.

Do you really think it affects the meaning that I was trying to get across?

And there really is a word Magick. It is used to differentiate, as I attempted to explain, real magic as opposed to an illusion put on with smoke and mirrors and trap doors like Houdini. I’m sorry I didn’t make that more clear.

I’m glad you brought up Santa Clause. (I’m not talking about Saint Nicholas, the saint that was the foundation of our fictional character. I was about to write that there is no God that sits in heaven and listens to every prayer and decides thumbs up on thumbs down on each and every one). Just like there is no Santa Clause that delivers packages to each child in the world on Christmas Eve.

So you see, I have no trouble writing that there is no Santa Clause. I just don’t need to go into the details because most adults agree.

And by the way, while I appreciate the complement on the writing, Please feel free to be nitpicky about the writing. Part of the reason for writing this blog is to bring my writing skills to a professional standard.

Thank you for taking the time to explain. You did ask for corrections and that is the only reason I dared suggest them to you. I think you have a great ability to write and I look forward to reading something in the very near future. The subject of God is a very personal one and people can be very hurt by remarks suggesting he does not exist. Without him yesterday I don't know where I would have been. Knowledge of him is the greatest gift you can be given. I do like your enquiring mind and I promise I shall continue to correct where I can as long as it does not cause offence. Elaine

I think god is just the thing behind our imagination..the one whom we talk to when theres no one there..and of course, with the influence of Jesus Christ, he pictured to us who this god is..So its up to us what to believe..Vw oil pump

to bubblydi,

To say 'there is no such thing as god' is a perfectly acceptable thing for someone who believes that to be the case to say. If you don't agree with them, so what (they're right anyway...). If it's ok to state that there is a god then it must be equally acceptable to state the opposite unless we all live under a religious dictatorship.

LOL! I'm not sure why I find so much humor in some of this but I have really enjoyed reading this. I have found that when people study things indepth they often become very depressed at what they find. I believe that there is something out there...what I do not know. I believe that if Jesus Christ did really exsist then he was a great man!! I do follow his examples of treating others the way you would want to be treated and I try not to frown down on people just because they aren't like me. Christ was humble. I have never fully accepted all there is in the bible. It seemed to be written by men and therefore I have always felt it was a little bias. But that is just me.
