| The Fairytale President: The Obama Chronicles
When Bill Clinton called the Obama candidacy a "fairy tale," his point was, where's the substance, insinuating of course that Hill is indeed the real thing, Obama is not, and people should recognize that. And one thinks Bill was a little miffed that people, lo and behold, really don't care about the experience factor. Well, several weeks later, it appears they still don't. Here in Missouri, the vast majority of the state's Democratic office holders were seen and heard jumping on the Obama bandwagon one after the other like leaping from a sinking ship. Only a few stalwarts remained to support Gal Hill, and the result was a tie in the delegate count between the two.
And, as Obama grows in the role he has chosen for himself -- presidential aspirant, despite that lack of experience -- his voice is starting to even take on the sound of the prophet. Again and again he talks about unity in America, the need to end divisions. And in at least one way he will be proven dead right. That's because the American people are united on one issue -- the wars this nation now finds itself embroiled in, and the need to find a way out -- an honorable way out.
The war issue, and national security, will move front and center once the field is narrowed to two candidates. Then the public will hear what concrete proposals these candidates have, instead of the platitudes now aplenty.
And whomever has a plan the American public find agreeable, whether it be the Republican John McCain or the Democratic candidate, will find himself/herself with a hug leg up on the race to the White House.
