I don't want to be a whiner in here. I really am not feeling very sick, I just don't have the energy I used to. Aside from that, the aches and pains of the execesses of my younger days are taking thier toll. All in all, I have a good life, as good as I can make it.
We had strawberry milk shakes yesterday.Fresh strawberries, real cream. Does it get any better than that? My wife was the instigator, she ordered one, and after 'tasting' hers half gone, I had to get one to make up for it. I highly recommend good ice cream for soothing anything that ails you. Forget calories, think of it as cheap therapy. Walk home if your concience hurts.
Today I am using my small garden tractor to cover a hillside that our pups ruined last year. The hill had been planted in ice plant, they dug up a lot of it going after gophers, the scourge of california. I intend to make my mark on this world finding an alternate use for gophers. Maybe as minefield detectors? Ha ha, maybe.
The riot of wildflowers is toning down now, we had a day or two of heat, up to 80f. so the beaches were crowded. It will be cooler all of May and June as the marine layer takes over the coastal areas, which we get the benefit of, although we are 10 miles inland, the canyons divert the clouds and fog our way.
Our lake had few visitors lately, but that will change soon. it is nice to hear children playing in the water. Dogs are allowed in some areas, and it is cute to watch the interaction of the children and thier dogs in small boats or just swimming to the raft in the middle of the lake.
The large white cranes wait out the day away from the people, and fly back in as soon as they leave. It is almost like changing of the guard. They are graceful and beautiful birds. Right now we have orioles, bright yellow and black, and the 'painted lady'butterflies are migrating. iI takes them about a month to fly through, so there are thousands of them flitting past on any sunny day.
Oh! we had a baby black bear found in our area, on the road we take to town. They are not usually found here so, big news for us. We are a sorry that it was not left in the wild. But something must have happened to the Mom bear. It was named 'Temecula' although it was not found near Temecula...go figure. If you want to see it go to the Press Enterprise in California, PE.com 'baby bear found in De Luz'
