 who gets it?

There was a fatal shark attack off our local beach this week.
It is so rare a happening here, it has been 50 years since the last one.

I feel for him, and his family. The poor guy was a triathlete in great shape.
So much for watching carbs. I'm getting a donut, and then I'm going swimming to work it off.
There are sharks in the water, there are always sharks in the water.
What do I have to fear anyway? I drive the I-15 freeway.

All of a sudden it is 90 f. yesterday and maybe hotter today, I watched a group of novice sailers in little colorful sailboats on the lake. I swear they tipped as often as they could to stay wet. Lots of laughter, looked like fun. Maybe I should get a small saiboat for the grandkids.  Though they either swim or fish instead.

The blackberries are setting, we will have berries in a week or two. We have a deal, I pick, and my wife makes one blackberry pie, blackberry shortcake, and then jam or jelly with the rest. Then we have that all year. Aside from what she gives as gifts.  Peaches will be ready next, and apricots, same deal, On thanksgiving day we serve the jellies with homemade rolls. Heaven.

My wife is a smart girl, I didn't marry her for smarts though, and not for her cooking either. Those are a bonus!  She gets defensive when someone says, you are like 'Martha Stewart' to her.  When I met her she had just gotten a scholarship from the Betty Crocker company, for an acedemic test, which she scored highest in. It embarrassed her then, and still does when it comes up.  Why, I don't know. It didn't come in a cake mix box.

Anyway, she is a great cook, so I  get to enjoy all of this all year around.
It is nice to open the cupboard and see jars of summer fruit, pickles, jams, jellies, and remember summer.

The wildlife art show is next week. what an opportunity to see the original works, and speak to the artists, we love it. One of the best investments in my not so humble opinion, is art. I love an investment you can enjoy. We invested in Olaf Weighorst's prints. He was a calvaryman, one of the last, and painted great western art. I love good western art, there is a lot not so good, which cheapens the value for everyone, I think.  It is the same with any style. I especially do not like copiers and similar works- find your own style!
