Thank God for air conditioning.
It has been hot here.
I walk inside, and it is heaven.
And for you greenies, I offset a lot with solar.
I am putting misters in the patio, and a small lap pool
I know, the lake is right there, true.
But I want to have
A no dress code,just for exercise,private swim.
I should add,
goose free.
Those geese can be darned territorial.
When I lived in the desert,
on a small ranch,
we used a 'swamp cooler',
those do a great job
in dry climates.
But the real cooler was the pool.
I worked in 110 degree heat,
and drove a jeep with, huh, no air conditioning.
When I got home, clothes started coming off in the driveway, and ended up next to the pool.
Those were the days!
I loved that pool.
It was long, wide, and deep.
We used to jump off the poolhouse roof into it.
The whole neighborhood could be found in that pool,
and all weekend too.
It was the only cool wet place in the area,
I was a hero.
So many good memories there.
Once late at night,
we heard loud noises coming from the pool,
we ran out to find something
horned, black, shiny and
BIG,
just exiting the pool gate as we opened it.
It took us a moment to realise it was a steer
(not the devil)
a black angus,
wet, scared and not stopping for anything!
We jumped aside, like toreadors,
and then thought,
STEAK!
and ran after it,
barefoot
almost nekkid,into the desert.
It had too much of a head start.
How was I going to hang onto a wet, running steer?
One guess,
and it ain't pretty.
RODEO.
Couple of months later, we saw it,putting on weight nicely, in a neighbors horse corral.
Where it came from, quien sabe?
I"m
