Where are all the pissed off people - redux
It's been a while since I posted here, and while reviewing old posts, I ran acrss one of my last and thought it so interesting I decided to re-post it, with an added question.  If the president was so sure that Afghanistan is "a war worth fighting", why has it taken him more than a month to make a decision whether or not to send more troops to the theater?  His Defense Secretary and Commander of forces in Afghanistan have both recommended addiditional troops, but the messiah in chief needs more input....  From whom??

Either unleash the dogs of war to do what they do, kill and destroy, or bring them home.  PERIOD!  Any politician threatening to use the United States military must be willing to unleash hell's fury, without intervention or excuse, or leave that weapon in its' scabbord.

On to my previous post.

Where are all the people....

Where are all the PISSED OFF people, who during another time of turmoil and controversy, were so willing and ready to scream from the mountaintops for the head of the president who declared an unjust war? Where are all the people who would wantonly accuse an administration of sending our troops to bleed and die unjustly at the hands of "freedom fighters" defending their land from foreign crusaders?

Where are you now, as the one who promised hope, change, and a different form of government, brings you more of the same, exponentially.....??

Pay close attention to the parts in the following story which I have chosen to emphasize by bold, italics, underlining.

Obama, urging patience, says Afghan war worth fighting

By Matt Spetalnick and Jeff Mason Matt Spetalnick And Jeff Mason – Mon Aug 17, 2:43 pm ET

PHOENIX (Reuters) – President Barack Obama on Monday called the conflict in Afghanistan "a war worth fighting" as he sought to stiffen U.S. public support before an election there this week that will test his new strategy.

Obama's words were designed to prepare Americans for the long haul. U.S. combat deaths have risen since he ordered a troop buildup to confront a resurgent Taliban, and polls show public backing for the eight year-war has softened.

"The insurgency in Afghanistan didn't just happen overnight, and we won't defeat it overnight," Obama said in a speech to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the largest U.S. military veterans group. "This will not be quick nor easy."

Obama described why he believes the Afghanistan policy he unveiled earlier this year is working and why the United States must remain committed to stabilizing the war-ravaged country.

"This is not a war of choice. This is a war of necessity," Obama said. "Those who attacked America on 9/11 are plotting to do so again. If left unchecked, the Taliban insurgency will mean an even larger safe haven from which al Qaeda would plot to kill more Americans."

"So this is not only a war worth fighting, this is fundamental to the defense of our people," Obama said.

Since taking office in January, he has shifted focus from the more unpopular war in Iraq to Afghanistan as his top foreign policy priority.

Obama spoke as Afghans prepared to vote in a presidential election Thursday that the Taliban, stronger than at any time since they were driven from power in 2001, have vowed to disrupt.

Securing the balloting will be a crucial test for Obama's strategy that has rushed 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan this year. Underlining the threat, the Taliban Saturday claimed a suicide car bomb that killed seven people in Kabul.

PRESSURE TO SHOW RESULTS

In a speech that also covered Iraq, defense spending and healthcare for veterans, Obama did not comment on the Afghan presidential contenders to avoid charges of U.S. interference.

Despite the administration's unease with President Hamid Karzai, polls show the incumbent comfortably leading his nearest challenger, Abdullah Abdullah, but not by enough to avoid a run-off.

The new commander of U.S. and NATO forces in Afghanistan, Gen. Stanley McChrystal, will deliver a strategy assessment shortly after the election. It comes as surging Taliban violence is exerting pressure on Washington to show results.

After a record 44 U.S. troops were killed in Afghanistan in July, a recent CNN poll showed U.S. public support for the war at a new low of 41 percent, with 54 percent opposed.

Obama's strategy has called for increased reconstruction aid as well as troops, but the effort to bring in more civilians to help rebuild has been slow.

He has worked to draw neighboring Pakistan into a regional crackdown on al Qaeda and their Taliban allies.

Obama said his strategy recognizes that the insurgents had moved their bases to the remote, tribal areas of Pakistan.

He reiterated that the United States was on track to "remove all our troops from Iraq by the end of 2011."

During last year's presidential campaign, Obama had accused the Bush administration of being distracted by Iraq and neglecting Afghanistan.

Obama addressed the VFW a year ago when he was still a candidate and had to defend his credentials to serve as U.S. commander-in-chief. This time, the Democratic president received a polite but less-than-rousing reception from the group, which is known for conservative views.

In Phoenix, Obama was unable to escape the fierce domestic debate over healthcare reform. Dozens of protesters on each side stood on opposite sides of the street shouting at each other outside the convention hall where he spoke.

Obama never ran for President on the promise to bring troops home from Afghanistan, he promised to bring troops home from Iraq, he mantained during his run for PResident and during his time as senator that Afghanisatn was the RIGHT war...with the WRONG mission...

And he hasn't followed through on either of those promises, nor any other for that matter.

Make yourselves sheep and the wolves will eat you.

wolves..lol,I survied the wolves for the last 8 years. Write me a blog in 2 years about what obama hasn't done. Do you expect instant results??? It took 30 years of shit to get here, are to crawl out of it in...11 months??? Have Americans become so A.D.D...that we want-need-expect-demand- instant solutions to problems that took YEARS to create. If that's the case, good-bye America!

Yes I know, everything was George Bush's fault, and no one else has ever had any influence. Nowhere does Congress come into play or the Judiciary, or the 4th branch of government, the media.

You're right. Obama has done a lot, and there's more to come. All of which is meant to crush our economy and produce a Socialist state that Hugo Chavez and Chairman Mao would be envious of.

Not everything was Bush's fault. The collapse of the economy can also be blamed on greedy average American citizens who decided...they needed another car,or boat or house and then defaulted on paying. Everyone who took on more credit then they could handle is at fault.

What i am saying is the shape of the country is NOT because of Obama's, but alas....you can go on and play the "it's the black guy's fault card"...

And America needs to UNDERSTAND words before they use them...Obama's a socialist, nazi, communist.

Funny thing is America has no idea what the words mean...let's look at it this way...i am sure you have a search bar on your computer, right??

Britian=socialist
Nazi Germany= facist
China=communist

Hitler hated communists and sought to destory them..that's why he invaded Russia, Hitler hated socialism( being the german socialist party was one of Hitlers first targets when he came to power)

But alas keep proving why....America is full os shit

So typical of obama sympathizers. Never have I said anything about his race. It's racists like yourself that continue to bring it up. I don't give a rip if his skin in pink zebra stripes.

I know full well the words I'm using, as I choose them and parse them very carefully.

I don't need to waste my time with zealots such as yourself since facts are wasted on zealots.

If you so dislike America, leave. If you're already gone, shut up.

No i am an American sympathizer

zealot? You must be a zealot yourself, just in the opposite way. From reading your blogs, you don't wast facts...because you prsent no facts, just your thoughts(hence the name thoughts.com)

I am sure if you had an understanding of words, you WOULD choose them carefully.

Being i served two tours in Iraq 2003-04 and 07-08....i find it hard disliking America, I served my country so i have the right to state wahtever i feel, you on the other hand, sit at your computer and spout unfactual dumbshit and try to pass it off as patriotism, you remind me of all those whiners...who talk so highly of love and concern of country but all you do is bitch!!!

Now go back to pretending that your important and doing something big

Your service to the country does NOT giver you the right to state whatever you feel. The Constitution does, and your service as well as mine is what protects that right, along with all the others.

It's terribly unfortunate you feel the need to demean those you disagree with by using condescending and foul language. I have made numerous points, backed up with factual evidence throughout my blogs. You just disagree. Believe me, I love this country more than you could ever understand, but we have massive problems, which aren't going to helped by obama, pelosi, reid or most other politicians in our government.

Unfortunately, people (like you) have been duped into believing the few little tidbits of information being fed you by the government media. It doesn't take much time to peel away the layers on the onion and get to what is really going on, and I assure you, it's not going to help us remain a free nation.

We're going to get change all right, and the Constitution you swore to uphold will be swept aside in such a way there won't be any distinguishing difference between the US or Venezuela and Cuba.

Thanks for your service.

When i am dealing with people who state out right LIES and HALF-TRUTHS i always tend to use foul speech...demean you??..i called you NO SUCH name...i said you spout "unfactual dumbshit"...not once did i call YOU a name and NO you have not used ANY factual evidence...just a article from a random website..and then your far right thought follows...

Yeah...we are going to end up like Venezuela...what-ever, you sound like the loony left wing-nuts, when they were saying Bush was going to turn this into Nazi Germany, it seems people just like to bitch and whine, be they left or right crazies...few people want to actually help.

And you forgot to mention Bush jr., Cheney, Rumsfeild,...when you mentioned obama, pelosi, reid.

Duped by the media and government??..maybe when i and the rest of the country was duped into believing Iraq had WMD's.

The country will only change, when we can quite down these left wing and right wing nuts, they both make up a small chunk of America...it's just that they are the loudest.

Thank you for your thanks for my service. I do not doubt you love your country, but sometimes love just ain't enough...

nothing personal..and yes i do disagree with you

Good luck with your beliefs. In the past year our government has consfiscated private industry, totalling more than 30% of the national GDP, through nationalization. Those would be banks, insurance companies, auto manufacturers, etc. Now they propose to take over the health care industry which accounts for as much as 17% of GDP, for a grand total of approximately 47% of GDP.

That doesn't sound like socialism, a la Venezuela to you?

Of course your retort will be, that's bullshit, where are the facts? They're right in front of you every day in the news. You just choose to ignore them.

As I said at the beginning of this post, good luck with your beliefs.

And good luck with continually shoving your head in the sand, believing the government is there looking out for your best interest.

I realize you're not about to read through a bunch of past blogs, but any time spent doing so would show, I have no affinity for either side of the political aisle. The vast majority should be imprisoned for myriad criminal acts.
