| The Benefits of Drinking Water |
Although there are a number of reasons to be drinking water, here are only a few examples:
1. Regulates body temperature
2. Helps with weight loss and muscle tone
3. Improves energy and helps fight chronic fatigue
4. Cushions and lubricates the joints, protects tissues, organs, and the spinal cord from shock damage.
5. Improves liver function
6. Decreases headaches, migraines, and dizziness
7. Helps with muscle and joint pain
8. Improves hormone function
9. Decreases fluid retention
10. Increases mental and physical performance
11. Increases natural thirst
12. Removes toxins from the body
Drinking water improves energy levels, which also helps to boost metabolism. Some studies have shown that thirst and hunger are often triggered together. Even the slightest dehydration in the thirst mechanism can occasionally be mistaken for hunger. An individual may eat, when all the body needs is fluid. The majority of foods we eat, contain some water. If a person does not drink much, they are often driven to eat more to gain the necessary water supply. When this happens, you gain the effects of calorie consumption, which also causes weight gain. By drinking more water, it helps you to feel full longer, which keeps you from overeating, and benefits weight loss. If you plan to build muscle, then your body must be well hydrated. If you are lifting weights, but lacking in water, even briefly, less fluids are available to protect your joints. Fluids are essential protection for optimal performance, therefore, gives longer life to your joints.
It is not a good idea to use thirst as a guide for when you should start drinking. If you wait until you are thirsty, you are already slightly dehydrated.
