Is it wrong to hide from your children?
After getting tired at lunch of keeping the dog from stealing food from the kids, telling them to finish their salad, picking up dropped forks and breaking up fights a countless number of times I decided I needed a break. I put Elle to bed, nuked some leftover coffee-never time to make a new pot- and made my way to the seldom used sunroom off of the MB. I sat in the chair that I placed in the room for reading (BTW, it's never been read in), and listened to the kids argue from several yards away! Welcome to having 3 kids-- first of all, I never would have left my firstborn alone while eating, second, do you think the dropped fork ever made it to the sink? Nope. When Anne was little the poor dropped eating utensil would have found its way to the trash bin or at the very least been sanitized in the dishwasher. A college professor told me that there is actual truth to that "5 second" rule and I haven't looked back since! At any rate, I hid from them and it was the most well spent 5 minutes of my day! Ok, now that social services will probably read this and hunt me down, I'll move on...
All is quiet now obviously, or I wouldn't be able to blog. 2 kids are in bed and 1 is finishing her math assignment.
Update on dog search: We adopted a shepherd mix from MA about 1 1/2 weeks ago. His name is "Lee" which I plan on changing. How confused do you think he'll get? I was told he would be ok with it but I'm a little hesitant. He was named after Civil War General Lee and no offense to you southern folk but being a Yankee, I think it may send the wrong message. So far, he's been great aside from a shredded bedspread...
Latest Peave: Doesn't anyone sell affordable modest children's clothing? I just spent $100 on 3 dresses from Lands End today. I'm tired of department stores/designers whoring the kids these days. I'm telling you-- I don't understand what's so cute about reading print on a child's bum or seeing their midriffs and upper thighs. Whats going on??? So, my quest for modest clothing drew me to many sites that ok, if I lived on a farm or in Lancaster or was part of the Ingells family, would be very fashionable. But to be honest, I want my children to look MODEST not like outcasts.... anyway, I'm jumping off my soapbox. Hope you all have a great day-- I have to go get my screaming daughter who is up from her nap 50 minutes early. SIGH...
