Ok, so I've been on this kick lately of trying to do my part for the earth. The funny thing is that this journey actually started several years ago when my daughter hit 6 months and completely refused solid food. This went on for more than two years... In the process of creatively trying to get nutrients into her, I started making changes in our diets as well. First it was adding more fruits and veggies, then they were organic. Next it was milk which led to hormone free milk. Then it was the dye and perfume free products... the list goes on. I want the best for my family-- I want them to be healthy and have a good long life. Anyway, throughout the process I realized that these small changes were actually good things for the environment as well and it grew from there. I am always irritated when I hear people talk about how the right or Christians don't care about the environment. I personally care a lot and not because its "in" now but because I believe the Bible actually teaches it. I started a group on Facebook called Christians for a Greener Planet because I think the issue is that important.
I'm in the process of switching my cleaners all over to family safe ones. I don't know why that took so long. Yes I do.. its that flashback of my mother drenching her frenchf ries in vinegar and how I loathed that smell. But, you know, it grows on you. Now when I'm spraying my counter with vinegar I try to think... ahhh, doesn't it smell fresh and clean?!? Gulp...
Not all changes are easy but what keeps me going is knowing I'm making healthy choices for my family now and family I may never meet...
