Ok, so I was on a cowboy kick there for a few lol. Anyway, here's one last western type poem to make ya'll suffer before I return to 'Untitled'. This is one of my first dating back about 17 years, so excuse the dust and cobwebs.

The Cowboy

Here’s a story about a cowboy;
His only family was his buckskin horse.
The single prize possession he held,
Was his dusty, grey Stetson of course.

In the mornings he rose with the first sun rays,
Brewed some coffee and saddle his steed.
He had to get the stragglers back to the ranch,
If, in his job he was to succeed.

He headed across the plains
To the mountains for higher ground.
The air growing colder as winter approached
He knew the north ridge is where they would be found.

As always he found the cattle,
And brought them back to the homestead.
But upon reaching the ranch one evening
He headed to town and not to his bed.

The cowboy rode is horse to the local bar
Tied the buckskin to the hitching rail;
He stepped into the smoke-filled room
And called the bartender for a glass of ale.

Taking a long deserved drink from his brew
He sat down for some five-card draw
But when another pulled up a chair beside him
His heart nearly stopped by what he saw.

The most beautiful little cowgirl
Caught him by the eye.
One sweet wink in his direction
Was all it took to make him sigh.

Before, this cowboy used to go to town
Once a month and for a short while.
Now he heads back twice a week
And returns to work with one hell of a smile.

All to soon, it is ten years later
And the cowboy owns his own homestead.
He has his own ranch hands to do all the work
For this cowboy has settled down, this cowboy has been wed.

He fell in love and married that cowgirl
Had three kids (a little girl and two boys)
He makes sacrifices at every turn now
So his kids can have the latest cloths and toys.

You see, nothing can tame a cowboy
Not a bronc or bull in all the land.
Nothing could ever tame a cowboy
Except the soft touch of a cowgirl’s hand.
