Do People EVER read things properly?
I say this for 2 reasons:

1) Why is it, emails get sent, to make general conversation and the other person totally ignores what you've said, goes on about themselves for half a page and then asks you what you've been doing, even though you'd previously told them?

2)My students, who enrol for courses, ring up to say they've completed the enrolment form and how much is the course and what is our fax number. Both bits of information are on the bloody form!!

Dear southernsun,
Unfortunately this is a problem that comes from the; "me me me " mindset we have today.
I think that mindset is a base cause for all the family split ups nowadays.
People are so wound up with, "what's in it for me," that they fail to see the whole picture.
I also put some of the blame on computers due to kids being conditioned for an instant satisfaction from life.
I put more of the blame on the parents for giving into every whim and desire from their kids. They inadvertantly teach their kids to be very materialistic.
Then they drop their kids off at school and bitch when the teachers are failing to get across the basics the kid needs to survive.
We tie teachers hands because they are not allowed to discipline the kids when they misbehave, and then there are some kids who are so caught up in this me first attitude that they would attack a teacher who would verbally discipline them.
This all leads to kids who don't look any deeper than they have to and thus they end up having poor work ethics.
This contributes to their lazyness and their confrontational behavior when they don't get what they want.
Well that's just part of my feelings on this subject, and I'll let it go at that.
Please allow me this moment to thank you for what you have chosen for a profession.
Teachers are tuely not given the admiration and respect they deserve.
When I was a 15 year old problem child, Mr. Cunningham would allow me to sit on his lap while I talked to him about my latest problem. (then I would get my three swats for misbehaving) LOL

Interesting thoughts, jwcj...where have you been the past few months??:P I have noticed even here on this site people fail to see things right in front of them and then ask stupid questions. I cannot believe they cannot read or view what is right there and get the answer.
