Game Log, Session 3
Returning to the roadhouse for supplies, the
characters are joined in their quest by Olland, a human sorcerer. With a pack
horse borrowed from Bull, the characters travel to the temple of Soleth
(LN lesser god of peaceful death and solitude). The temple is built into the
side of a mountain and seems to be long abandoned.
Hacking their way through the brambles that
surround the entrance, the characters gain entrance through a secret door by
pouring water into the mouth of the carving of a skeleton – mimicking a rite of
Soleth whereby a corpse is preserved and prevented form rising in undeath by
the administration of a special draught.
Inside, the characters encounter kobolds, a
trapped staircase and a well-defended barricade composed of wooden furniture
and debris. They also discover strange mushrooms – one stand of mushrooms emits
a noxious gas, while another radiates heat. The latter mushrooms enable fiery
breath when consumed, a fact that the kobolds took advantage of in combat.
After a difficult fight at the barricade,
during which the barricade catches fire, the characters retreat to a safer room
to rest.
