Job 40:1-6 (HCSB)
1 The LORD answered Job:
2 Will the one who contends with the Almighty correct [Him]?
Let him who argues with God give an answer.
3 Then Job answered the LORD:
4 I am so insignificant. How can I answer You?
I place my hand over my mouth.
5 I have spoken once, and I will not reply;
twice, but [now] I can add nothing.
6 Then the LORD answered Job from the whirlwind:
Everyone must be humbled before they approach the throne of God.
We are taught to confess our sins before we petition God – this is not only to “cover” us to enter into His presence – it is also to humble us –God hates pride.
Job has been humbled – he considers himself “vile” (insignificant) and even though he thinks of things to say he will put his hand over his mouth. He has already “run off at the mouth” saying things but having no answer.
When God speaks, Job becomes silent. We need to be silent before God so we can hear Him.
In previous chapters God used animals and the sun and moon, etc. to show His power. A power that man cannot have or comprehend. GOD is in Control.
Job 40: 7 (HCSB)
7 Get ready to answer Me like a man;
When I question you, you will inform Me.
Brace yourself, be a man and take it – don’t be a wimp – be man enough to hear this…
You are but a man – you are limited
Job 40: 8 -9 (HCSB)
8 Would you really challenge My justice?
Would you declare Me guilty to justify yourself?
9 Do you have an arm like God's?
Can you thunder with a voice like His?
Challenge, annul, discredit…God is getting personal, “will Job condemn God to justify himself?”
Job 40: 10 – 14 (HCSB)
10 Adorn yourself with majesty and splendor,
and clothe yourself with honor and glory.
11 Unleash your raging anger;
look on every proud person and humiliate him.
12 Look on every proud person and humble him;
trample the wicked where they stand.
13 Hide them together in the dust;
imprison them in the grave.
14 Then I will confess to you
that your own right hand can deliver you.
Can you adorn yourself?
Can you clothe yourself?
Can you look …?
Can you crush, trample…?
Can you bury …?
“If you can do all this then save yourself.”
Isaiah 64:6 But we are all like an unclean thing, And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags; We all fade as a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, Have taken us away.
Job is limited – not in control – unable to do anything – cannot stand before God.
Job 40: 15-24 (HCSB)
15 Look at Behemoth,
which I made along with you.
He eats grass like an ox.
16 Look at the strength of his loins
and the power in the muscles of his belly.
17 He stiffens his tail like a cedar tree;
the tendons of his thighs are woven firmly together.
18 His bones are bronze tubes;
his limbs are like iron rods.
19 He is the foremost of God's works;
[only] his Maker can draw the sword against him.
20 The hills yield food for him,
while all [sorts of] wild animals play there.
21 He lies under the lotus plants,
hiding in the protection of marshy reeds.
22 Lotus plants cover him with their shade;
the willows by the brook surround him.
23 Though the river rages, Behemoth is unafraid;
he remains confident, even if the Jordan surges up to his mouth.
24 Can anyone capture him while he looks on,
or pierce his nose with snares?
CREATION SCIENCE LESSON!
“along” means at the same time, occupied same space at same time on earth
Vs 19: foremost, first – these words mean largest, biggest of God’s creations.
This is a description of a dinosaur – the biggest largest land animal; it is uncapturable by man (only his Maker can draw the sword against him)
Job has had a behemoth of a problem with all the disastrous losses in his life.
Usually when we are in dire circumstances we can look around and see others worse off but not too many around are worse off than Job.
There is overwhelming evidence of dinosaurs and humans existing together – evidence that evolutionist make up explanations to “explain away” and skew the facts. There are extinct animals – animals that could not survive the environmental changes after the flood.
Behemoth is not a hippopotamus.
Job 41:1-11 (HCSB)
1 Can you pull in Leviathan with a hook
or tie his tongue down with a rope?
2 Can you put a cord through his nose
or pierce his jaw with a hook?
3 Will he beg you for mercy
or speak softly to you?
4 Will he make a covenant with you
so that you can take him as a slave forever?
5 Can you play with him like a bird
or put him on a leash for your girls?
6 Will traders bargain for him
or divide him among the merchants?
7 Can you fill his hide with harpoons
or his head with fishing spears?
8 Lay a hand on him.
You will remember the battle
and never repeat it!
9 Any hope of [capturing] him proves false.
Does a person not collapse at the very sight of him?
10 No one is ferocious [enough] to rouse Leviathan;
who then can stand against Me?
11 Who confronted Me, that I should repay him?
Everything under heaven belongs to Me.
Job is dealing with a problem that is bigger than himself. Our biggest problem is how can we come to God – we can’t. God has to come to us and bring us to HIM.
The largest land animal and the largest sea creature – God can tame these but man cannot.
Most of the problems we face in our world today stem from the teachings of evolution. An atheist/agnostic can easily believe and wants to believe in evolution because if there is a Creator then there is accountability.
There is more evidence for Intelligent Design than for evolution.
Major universities and college professors do not believe in Absolute Truth.
They teach relative truth. It always starts with thoughts of evolution because man becomes God. They teach that man has made God in his own image rather than God creating man:
Genesis 1:26-27 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
“The church oughta do better”. 35 hours a week in school, 3 hours a week in church. NO, the parents must step up to bat.
How has man changed, evolved, developed physically in 6000 years of proven human history? It is a big deal!
If you can’t trust the Bible to tell you where you came from, how can you trust it to tell you where you are going?
Chapter 41 Verse 11: we are accountable to the LORD!
