| Greetings from Florida's Newest Resident

Everyday I have a brief moment where I think about what we have done here, and I am beside myself with awe. I had no understanding of how much courage it takes rip up over forty years worth of roots, gather up twenty plus years of belongings and move across this great country of ours.
My husband and I are both the youngest children in our families. We have done the right thing, the best thing and the safe thing but not ever something so dramatic and risky. For that, I am very proud of us. We finally spread our fortyish wings and did what we wanted to do for the first time. It's as frightening as it is exhilarating and the fact that we're here completely blows my mind.
I love our temporary apartment even though it's totally stark white. I did leave a lot of our possessions behind for my sister and our daughter to use. Now I am going around replacing things like our coffee pot, microwave and bed. This is fun! I really wanted to decorate in my own personal taste instead with hand-me-downs from our parents for once. I purposefully left key items behind just for that reason.
I am so exhausted and this is the first day in eleven that we didn't have anything to do and we are napping, snacking and laying around in our jammies. I even had a chance to visit a few of my friends here.
I believe that all good things will come from our daredevil antics. At least, I hope so. |
