| "You Never See it Coming but it's Not our Fault" |
Ive got another smiles story for all of you. Gather round kids! Now boys, pay special attention. Im hoping your mommies raised you better than this.
A couple weeks ago I was out with some friends. We were having a good time and I left the group for a moment for some reason. As I was "alone" this guys approached me. He smiled and introduced himself so I returned the favour. He started up a conversation and I was polite but made sure I did not seem too eager. Be sure of this, I was not interested in this guy. Nothing against him, I'm sure he was a nice guy but I knew where the conversation was going and I didn't want to let it go that far. There was a pause in the conversation and I took it as an oppurtunity to do the whole "nice talking to you" and depart. As I turned around he called after me. I hesitated but did not want to be rude to him as he had not given me any reason to treat him badly. I turned around and of course he hit me with it.
"Can I get your number?"
I silently groaned in my head but kept a cool and collected demeanor. I hate giving out my number to complete strangers. I really try to avoid it and the fact that I wasn't even interested in him did not make this any easier. Ive always felt so bad by saying no so I usually try to beat around the bush. My guy friends have repeatedly told me that it is better to not lead a guy on and just say no if you are not interested but I still have this unlogical sense of guilt. I avoided it completely and made some excuse about a friend calling me. He then started to get extremely forward. Now there is a difference between being forward and being confident. I didn't get the sense that he was particularly dangerous but I wasn't about to hand over my digits either. I shook my head and as I walked away I could hear him from behind me. He was basically boasting about himself and saying that I would not regret it. The whole situation was rather humorous and I just laughed it off.
Later that same day he approached me again but this time I was ready for it.
Guy: Hey did you think it over?
Me: Yes I did.
Guy: So what's your number?
Me: Why do you want it?
Guy: Why wouldn't I want it. Trust me, you won't regret it.
Me: Well I'm sorry but I can't
Guy: I can change your mind.
Me: No I don't think you can. I'm already taken (Lie #1)
Guy: Oh that's too bad. Guess we are gonna have to keep it on the down low.
Me: That's gonna be hard. See I'm already seeing a couple guys (Lie #2)
Guy: How many?
Me: 3 (Lie #3)
Guy: Can I be the 4th?
I definitely thought that at this point he would have moved on but no he caught me off guard. I didn't know what to say in response as I didn't plan this far so I decided I would just scare the crap outta him.
Me: Sorry?
Guy: Can I be the 4th?
Me: No my brother is already in line. (Im sure I don't need to clarify but, Lie #4)
Guy: Excuse me?
Me: My brother. We're sort of trying it out as an experiment.
Guy: ...ok thats...interesting. *Pulls out cellphone* Ive actually gotta meet someone so um maybe I'll see you around sometime. Nice talking to you.
So maybe all of this is my fault since I didn't just say no at the beginning but i have to admit it did turn out pretty funny in the end. However, I never want to be in that situation again as it was extremely awkward so i've learned my lesson. And to all you gentlemen at thoughts, I leave you with this lesson:
Learn to get the hint before the poor girl has to resort to incest.
