The pressure is really on now, with only 7 weekends and whatever mornings and evening squeezed in between till the season begins and ends within a month.
There's a fest this weekend, but I don't think it's going to be anything worth mentioning and will ultimately be an expensive and pointless excersize.
The good news is that I have been invited to Townsville, so thats pretty great. I'll be the only woman in amongst about 7 blokes. Im rapt about that really, and I know I will put on a pretty good display for the punters.
Still no time to take phots, will finish off the ladybirds this weekend and hopefully there'll be enough wind to throw up a kite or 2 at the markets, including one of the new ones.
A china breed, great design, but not so well made, cheap enough to not be such a problem to reinforce the bridling on weak points. Well cheap enough to not make me curse the purchase.
Tim is keen to see his idea come to fruition, but I just don't have the time at present. A long term plan has now taken precidence over everything else and I wonder if 20m of fabric will be enough.
It's been so long since I made a big thing 5m that I forget just how fast a roll is chewed thru. I have to really start thinking about it now and work my way thru the stages to completion. But he's been a long way to come this far.
Started designing him a year ago in my head and the last couple of months in 3d and then to flat template stage and then a bit of manual work on scale designs to work out the finer points.
It's something that you're never really sure about untill a certain stage and you've already used up a lot of fabric and there's just no turning back. There is another one around already, but for copyright laws, it's a once off.
still, its quiet enough at work at present, If I could afford to take a week off I would, but I might be allowed somethinking time in between the more quieter moments to make the creation process go smoothly.
Its frustrating to sit at a desk, with not much more to do than filing when my brain is so filled with ideas bursting at the seams - and well we all do it, think about the someplace else.
Still part of the paper templates are put together tonite and I'll be back into it tomorrow and hopefully cutting out by the afternoon.
I've been asked to make another thing, and screen up some shirts, but I've had to say, sorry can't be done. You should have done it 6 months ago when you knew I was sitting around twiddling my thumbs.
The really bad news is that we have a wild cat lurking around here, the little bastard has got into my loft and sprayed somewhere. I've ripped out the couple of mats from the floor in the hope that the pong will go away and I will know the source, but it's still there so far, so I'm assuming a tomcat. No matter how I try, I can't find it, and by the time the ammonia has worked its way into the nostrils everything smell like cat piss.
It's vile and most annoying. There must be no worse smell in the world in a house than cat urine. I would like to chuck a bucket of tabasco sauce over it, see how he likes it.
Hubby smashed his thumb this morning, big time, not concentrating. Not only is his thumb nail a rich shade or purple but the underside as well. He did a good job on it.
I did this myself a couple of years ago in a car door, and on calling a friend about other business a few days later, mentioned the predicament of a very sore throbbing thumb. I was told to heat up a hot wire to red hot and burn a hole in the nail to release the pressure. It took me a couple of wines to work up the courage, but the relief was immediate.
this man didn't believe me, but he took my advice eventually tonite and did get some relief, well a whole lot of blood spurting out of the hole in his nail. pretty gross.
Warned him to watch it for infection now, but it all seals up pretty quick again, so provided he is sensible, he should be fine and he'll be trying to remove a dead nail in another month or so.
