| WLS – WHY?... MY TURNING POINT |

Not fitting in booths…
Needing a seat belt extender on an airline flight…
The look on the woman’s face when I had the middle seat in her row on the airplane…
Putting off doing things if it means climbing stairs…
Getting winded after going up the stairs…
Type 2 diabetes for 5 years – it’s getting harder to control, don’t want to go to insulin…
The real turning point was reading an article in Diabetes Self Management that talked about extending the life span of diabetics with weight loss surgery (WLS) – 85% get control without meds… and it’s quick – happens in a matter of weeks! Stats said I’d be dead in 10 years. I’m just tired of being fat and being tired of lugging ‘me’ around. It’s obvious that I can’t do it alone… Then, I saw an ad in January in the paper for the free seminar about LapBand surgery. I showed it to Max, expecting him to say I was nuts, but he said, “Are you going?”. I didn’t go that month. The next time I saw the ad, I called, and they were having the session that Thursday. Max was out of town, but this time I went, with Mom for support. It made sense, I decided that it was the right time and the right thing to do. Even Mom said, “Oh, Sandy, you need to do this!”…
