I have a weight where my heart should be and I don't think that I can take it anymore. I went in the woods today with a razor but couldn't find the courage. In the last 2 months I've lost my wife, my house, my car, and my self respect. I can't seem to find a job and had to move back in with my parents at 30 years old and I just feel like I'm done. I wish that I had a gun. That would make things so much easier. I lost everything because of a 4 year heroin habit and now that I'm coming down off of that it feels like I just want to snap. I have snapped. I called the suicide hotline today but they were no help. The problem is that no one can change the circumstances that I'm looking at and they all know that it isn't a good picture. I have nothing and it's getting worse. Oh God save me. If you reply to this and I'm still here I'll try to answer you. I hope no one who's reading this ever has to feel this way.-Skyler

It sounds like life handed you crap in a basket.
The good thing is, you kicked the habit. You may have nothing now, but that doesn't mean you will never have anything again.
Sometimes we get kicked in the teeth, we lose what we have. Look around though if you can at what you have a chance to gain. You're gaining back your strength (kicking the herion has to be something incredibly hard to do), you have a chance to start over.
You can do this. I really hope that you don't do anything to harm yourself. I'm here if you need someone to talk to.

I don't know what to write to you that doesn't sound super cheesy and cliche. Of course in these moments, when we are extremely down and out of hope, how can we see how much we actually have? We can't. My only advice to you is to keep writing. If you don't feel like you have anyone to talk to in your life, sign on to a chat and talk with random strangers. This is going to pass. You will rise up from this dark spot but it won't be fast and it won't be easy. You can't give up though. Keep writing here - there are people reading even if they aren't responding.

Hey darlin. As a fellow addict I can relate to the terror, bewilderment, frustration and depair that you are feeling. I want you to know that there is hope, there is a way out! Please respond to my message...I'd love to share with you how I've learned to live a sober happy life despite what is going on around and to me. Till then I want you to take it one minute at a time. One minute! One moment if you have to. Love and Respect, Shea

As the song says one day at a time - but sometimes it is one breath at a time. Yes, one breath at a time. You have done really well, and we all support you. As wrenbird says keep writing, keep talking, we are all here.
power to you

I've heard wonderful things about Teen Challenge. It can change your life (even more than you've changed it already by choosing to kick the habit!). Your prayer of "Oh God save me" is all you needed to utter. He's in the business of resurrecting dead stuff. ;) Like Job, He will restore to you so much more than you have lost.
Keep fighting the good fight! It WILL be worth it!!
