Poetry: Mendacity’s Fading Love
Scared to admit the truth
I profoundly glare into your eyes
As my mind fails, dyingly,
To express how I feel within
You recognize the agony
But deny it’s worth
As I began to feel unworthy of you
Of what was once
What was once between us.
Impediment lies
And hopeless dreams defer my heart’s last wish
To hold you one final time
To grace my arms with one last touch
One last kiss
And as your feet rush
Towards that door
I stand here – numb
From the force of the ache cutting thru the core
Of my heart.
If by any chance
You could hear my cry
In desperate need if your existence
Would you care to appear
To wipe away these bleeding tears?
Would you dare to draw closer?
Repair the word “forever?”
If only you knew
The strain of my hearts’ disaster
And the loneliness that haunts me
From the nights in the times we’ve shared together. |
