Q: Is there a fee for membership?

A: NO: joining thoughts.com is 100% free.

Q: How can I change my username?

A: Currently you are not able to change your username. We are looking into making this an option but for now it is not possible so please choose a username that you are going to keep.

Q: I forgot my password! Can I create a new one?

A: Certainly, just click on the link on the homepage beneath the spot where you would normally log in, labeled "Forgot Password? Click here" The system will then email you a temporary password for you to login with to your personal email, and then once you have signed in you can create a new password in the password section of "My Settings"

Q: How much space do I get for free?

A: You have unlimited free space at thoughts.com.

Q: Do I get my own URL for my blog?

A: Yes. You account blog will be under http://www.thoughts.com/username/blog So, if you choose jason as your username, your blog will be at: http://www.thoughts.com/jason/blog

Q: Do I get my own URL for my profile?

A: Yes: Your account profile will be under http://www.thoughts.com/username

Q: How can I delete a specific blog, photo, or video entry?

A: Go in to the specific section you are wanting to edit and at the top right area of all your posts there is an "edit/delete" option, a simuliar option is available at the bottom of each of your photos and videos

Q: How do I approve a friend request?

A: To approve or deny a friend request:
1. Login and click on your “My Friends” link in your "My Controls" links.
2. Click on your “Friend Requests” link at the top your left side friends menu.
3. Approved or Deny the request as you prefer.
4. Then select the relationship type.

Q: Can I make my profile private?

A: Yes. You have three options for your profile settings. You can select to have it viewable only by yourself, by yourself and your friends, or by everyone. Simply go into "My Settings" and select who you would like to be able to view your profile.

Q: Can I make some blog posts private and have others public?

A: Sure can. You also have three options for each of the posts you make. One post can be private or “only viewable by yourself” while others are for your “friends and family” only, and of course you can choose to have a post viewable by everyone as well. This can be done in the "My Privacy" section of your controls.

Q: Can I use thoughts.com to promote a business or affiliate program?

A: No. Thoughts.com is a free personal blog community. Using our services to promote an outside business, blog site, affiliate links, or money making scheme is not allowed.

Q: How do I make a blog post?

A: To make a blog post:
-click on "Blogs" at the top of the screen, then click on "Write a Blog"
or
-click on "Blogs" at the top of the screen, then click on "Write New" on the bottom of the "My blog" section on the right hand side of the screen.
or
-click on "Home". click on "My Blogs" on the left hand side of screen, and under that, click on "Write New"

Q: How do I upload photos?

A: To upload photos:
1. When logged into your account, locate “My Controls” on the left side of the screen
2. Click on “Photos” link
3. Click on "Upload Photos"
4. Click Browse to find the photo you are going to upload. There is a 5 megabyte file limit on photos
5. Decide Who you want to view the photo, Create a Title, tag your photo, Enter Security Code
6. Click “Upload Photos”
7. Or, you can also click the “Add More Photos” button to upload up to 3 photos at one time.

Simply click on the "Photos" Tab at the top of the page, and then click on "Upload Photos" in the grey bar below. Then follow steps 4-7

Q: How do I upload videos?

A: To Upload a Video:
You can either Upload vidoes by clicking on the Videos Tab and then the "Upload Videos" link below

While Browsing Videos in the "My video controls" area, click on "Upload Photo" link
2. Click on “Add New Video” link
3. Decide Who you want to view the video, tag your video, Create a Title
4. Click Browse to find the video you are going to upload
5. Once you have selected a video CLICK on "Upload File" and wait for "success" message
6. Then Enter the Security Code
7. Click “Upload Video"

Q: How do I upload podcasts?

A: To Upload a Podcast:
1. You can either click on the Podcasts Tab at the top of the screen, then "Upload Podcast" below that

Q: How do I create blog categories?

A: To create and manage your blog categories:
1. In "My Controls" click on "My Blogs"
2. Then click on "Manage Categories"
3. Create each catagory you would like to use and when writing a new post, use the scroll down menu to select which catagory you would like that specific post to be recorded as

Q: How do I Create a New Thread on the Forums?

A: To Create a New Thread on the Forums:

1. Click on the “Forums” link or visit http://www.thoughts.com/forums/
2. Select a Category
3. Click on the “New Thread” button to start a new forum thread
4. Enter your post and click “Submit New Thread”

Q: How do I leave a comment on the Forums?

A: To Leave a Comment on an Existing Thread in the Forums:

1. Click on “New Posts” – this will show all new posts since your last login
2. Click on the thread you want to post in
3. Click on “Post Reply” button and enter your reply
4. Click “Submit Reply”

Q: What is the difference between a Friend and a Bookmark?

A: a “friend” should be someone you know and consider a personal friend. When you manage your privacy options for your profile, individual blog and photo settings, etc you are able to select to only have your "friends and family" read certain posts, your profile and so forth. So, any of your "friends" on thoughts.com would be able to read any of those posts, while the general public would not be able to read them.

On the other hand, "bookmarks" are links to people that you find interesting to read, even though you may or may not be close to them personally. Therefore, you bookmark them which makes it easier for you and anyone else reading one of your blogs to find them.

Q: What are the widgets on my homepage and can I change them?

A: If you go to "My Settings" in my controls and click on "Widgets" you will see the selection of widgets you may activate on your webpage by clicking on 'add' beneath each. You can also remove any widgets you wish. the widget are fun and useful little ways to stay connected with all of the different things available to enjoy on thoughts.com

Q: How can I jazz up my blog?

A: Go to "My Settings" in the 'my controls' area, and click on "Themes". You can select and change the theme of your choice as often as you would like. When other's check out your blog they will experiance the aesthetic that you choose, which will also be your theme for your personal homepage on the site.

Q: What is an Atom feed?

Q: How can I delete my account?

Q: What determines EXPLICIT content?

A: We have a list of “offensive language” words that automatically flag posts as EXPLICIT when they are included in the post.

Q: What determines ADULT content?

A: We ask our members who are writing “adult related” content to please check the “Adult” content box when writing their posts. Other members also have the ability to flag an adult content post if it was not properly identified when it was originally posted.

Q: Can I disable the EXPLICIT content filter?

A: Yes. The explicit content filter is turned on by default. If you want to turn it off, click on the “Home” tab when you are logged in. Then click on the “Disable Language Filter” link in the gray sub-menu.

Q: Can I filter out all ADULT related content?

A: YES. Thoughts.com does not allow any sexually explicit photos or videos whatsoever. Written stories such as Erotica must be tagged as "Adult Content". If you come across any posts that have Adult content you will be presented with a pop-up window asking you how you want to proceed. You can check “Never show me any adult content” and we will automatically filter out all adult content for you.
