Time Magazine Report:
"As summer vacation begins, 17 gilrs at Gloucester High School are expecting babies-- more than four times the number of pregnancies the 1,200 - student school had last year. Some adults dismissed the statistic as a blip. Others blamed hit movies like Juno and Knocked Up for glamorizing young unwed mothers. But principal Joseph Sullivan knows at least part of the reason there's been such a spike in teen pregnancies in this Massachusetts fishing town. School officials started looking into the matter as early as October after an unusual number of girls began filing into the school clinic to find out if they were pregnant. By May, several students had returned multiple times to get pregnancy test, and on hearing the results, "some girls seemed more upset when they weren't pregnant than when they were," Sullivan says. All it took was a few simple questions before nearly hald the expecting students, none older than 16, confessed to making a pact to get pregnant and raise their babies together. Then the story got worse, "We found one of the fathers is a 24-year-old homeless guy," the principal says, shaking his head."
Driving to work this morning .. I heard a local radio station discussing the 17 girls who pinky swore to get pregnant together, I was astonished to hear such a think happening!! Do these girls think its a game? I can't believe how stupid these kids are .. where have their parents been?? My favorite line in is when it says the parents are blaming movies such as Juno and Knocked up .. LOL ... It seems now-a-days parents are always passing the blame onto hollywood, schools and other children ... it's their responsibility as a parent to teach and provide their children with this knowleldge. I think parents try to be freinds with their kids and I have found that they need direction and guidance .. not another friend. This article is really disturbing to me cause my first concern is the unborn children ... Well .. I can't even write about this any more cause it is making me naseaus!!!!

I was thirty before I had my first and after eight years of parenting (3 kids) I cannot imagine having a child at 16! If these boneheads think parenting is some wonderful joyride they are mistaken. Parenting is absolute maddning caos sprinkled with moments of indescribable joy. The girls are to blame for all of it-no one else.

I live in Gloucester, and i honestly think that these girls (some of them i know) only want attention. I mean honestly, what normal group of 15 year olds want to get pregnant? none of them belive that tehy're in for a very rude awakening.
