 Tsunami of change
I've been dealing with a tsunami of changes that hit me the last couple days. Change is never easy. Just when I settled into the bare bones living situation, another shift occured, which means my stranger in a strange land song goes on. With the dislocation train track I am on, I am not derailed, just curious about what is around the corner for me now.
It would be so easy to pack up and go to free housing and easier living in my home town in California. I have found that when Jesus says, "take up your cross and follow me", He doesn't usually lead me down easy street. I have a feeling it will still be the highway of Faith,( fully dependent on Him), while probably being stuck in the middle of the USA again.
With Midwest cold season approaching, it is almost an unbearable thought to be here, unless God thaws out some of the coldness and brings new vision and new life in this dead of winter whille being frozen in time.
Last winter I waited soooooo long for Spring, but it never came. It went straight from Winter to Summer and now we see the Fall.
But there are a few things in this winter wonderland that make it worth being stuck here and I am so thankful for that.
So I will glean from the warm healing river that flows from the throne as I wait upon the Lord to release new dreams and order my steps and direct my path.  He is faithful.

Isaiah 40:31
But those who wait on the LORD
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.

Bless you all!

He is faithful and so we wait on Him with an everlasting trust. I, too, am currently being tossed by a strong, persistent gail with a mighty force that challenges the grip of my roots in the Rock of Salvation. Should my roots be torn free, I will not move for His root in me is stronger than any gail. When I weaken, He grows strong. He is faithful! Amen.

Hi Sheryl,
I spent four years in Rolla, Missouri when my husband was in graduate school. We also are from California. It was a totally different culture and at that time we had no air conditioning. I remember the quick transition from winter ice storms to hot and humid summer with a multitude of insects and thunder storms. But one thing that was nice for us then was the slow pace of life - very good for a full time graduate student with a wife and two kids.

I learned so much while we were there just because the culture was different. I thought every American thought like we did in Southern California. LOL! Anyway, when you look back on all God does in your heart during this time - you will be glad. The best thing I remember is that it was in Rolla that I found the time to read through my Bible for the first time. :)
