 Light of the World

John 8:12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

I was at a teaching this week where a Rabbi was telling an amazing story about the Feast of Tabernacles. He said that in the evening everyone had to light a candle and put it in the window. The whole town was lit up beautifully with candles glowing and it looked like the city was filled with fire.
Jesus was at this very Feast when he said," I am the light of the world."

All who heard Him say this were witnessing the brightest light of the year and now they were witnessing the light of all mankind. Wow!

These are called the High Holy Days and I am so thankful that God sets in place reminders that help us not lose our way and keep us on the path with Him

Lord thank you for being the light of the world

and the one who gives light to our darkened souls

Thank you for deliverance that makes us whole

Help us look to you to light the path ahead

until we come to be with you and rest in all you said

PS. on my Feast of Tabernacles Blog......I was thinking about how Egypt , ,(sin and comfort) is not just a one time  temptation to overcome, but a daily battle we all face time and time again.  I can never assume I have "Made it" but my hope is that God will make this weak vessell strong as long as I keep my eyes on the only true light, the Light Of The World.

Romans 8:38-39
And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. (NLT)

Happy Sukkot( Tabernacles ).He was definately at all those festivals. Your right, we all struggle to overcome. He has already paid the price. For the regenerated in Him. It's a walk of grace through this journey in the power of His might, not our own. Great reminder.

2 Cor 12:9-10 seems to fit here.
