Why? Why? Why? Do Teenagers Kill Themselves
Okay peeps, I am struggling here. One of my son's friends from school shot herself on Sunday a.m. She left a note saying she had taken some money from her dad and was afraid he would be mad and beat her. HELLO!!
Money? That can't be the only reason she did this. She was 17, would have graduated in May, just bought her prom dress, what gives? I have always been an upbeat kind of person, who realizes that tomorrow is another day. Nothing in this world cannot be worked out, gotten over or forgiven. How can a seemingly beautiful little girl,  feel so helpless? She had friends, adult friends, a mom and a dad(divorced) and an older brother.

My son is somewhat devastated, but in typical teenage boy fashion does not want to talk to me about it. I figure the best thing for him, is to be with his friends(and hers). He attended the visitation last night and then spent the night with friends to be "together" to go to the funeral today. The highschool is allowing kids to take off from 10-1 to attend the  services. I am at a loss as to how to help him cope, and my husband and I are both concerned for his welfare. Teenagers don't seem to think past the here and now, and all of these kids are vulnerable to a depressed state for the next little while.

Please pray for this girls family and that all of her friends are able to cope without making the same mistake. Thanks Thoughts family:) shemelts

Oh I am so sad to read this. I have two young children, and to think that any child could feel that death was the only way to solve something, breaks my heart.
I send my heart felt condolences.

I am so sorry for your son's loss and for you anguish. My son's best friend died accidentally last year, so I can only offer up some suggestions from my own experience with this. Be patient with him. He needs to be with his friends right now, maybe even day and night. Eventually he will speak of this with you if you wait him out and don't push it. Just let him know that you love him more than life itself and that you will always be there for him. I'm sure you have told him that there is nothing more final than death. That it's the only road upon which there are no do-overs. You have the right outlook, and I'm sure you've raised him to understand that. Just love him. When he's ready, you'll be there.

Oh my god, I might be athiest but I will pray for this girl's family if it helps. I know this is a really bad time to ask but im trying to post a blog and it wont work anyone help. As for the problems with your son, take this advice from someone whos been through it. Im 16 and last year my girlfriend shot herself because she was bullied to much. Just let him be with his friends for now. He'll feel more comfortable around them for now. After a while, he'll talk to you about it. Just dont hassle him about it. Good luck with the future

Something much more devastating was going on in this kid's life and that had to be the straw that broke the camel's back. People who kill themselves do not see anything of worth in their future. I have struggled with depression for many years and looking back...the dumbest things caused great devastation for me...

We should always encourage those around us, because we never know what's going on behind their empty/brilliant eyes.
