Transitions..are hard for most people. The transition from summer to fall schedule is occuring all over the United States. In our little neck of the woods..Tn.. school is starting this week. My son starts on Wed. and my daughter returns to college on the 24th. I am excited to get our schedule back intune and get the school year underway.
It changes my entire life..but it is always a good thing. I am past the heartache of dropping off a kindergartener for the first time..and even dropping off a college student for the first time. I am excited to watch my children become the young adults I always dreamed they would be.
Though they will have their little spills along the way..I will always be there with my safety net in hand to catch them. I have shifted from the helicopter parent..hovering over their every move..to the parent who pushes them gently from the nest. I joke with my daughter..that I will have to stomp firmly on her hands to get her to let go of the nest. As her mother I will then gently kiss those bruised fingers as I let her go..and become the woman she is to become. It is a bittersweet time for me..but I am so enjoying it.
As I have often said..our lives are like books..This chapter finds me full of love and respect and pride for my children.
It also finds me reconnecting with a man that I have lived with and loved for 25 years. As in all chapters in the book I call my life..it will be an eventful one. Stay tuned and I will keep you updated, as I hope you will do the same for me.

I've been with my husband for 25 years and now that we have entered the "empty nest" part of our life, we are again reconnecting...although through the years I have always tried to keep him just as important if not more important than my kids so when this time came it wouldn't be like we were strangers. It's nice to still be friends with your husband even after all of these years. Enjoy this chapter, I look forward to reading many more :)

Your words really touch me....and although my youngest only started school this year, it has been an adjustment for me....harder than I imagined.
But now I am finding myself reconnecting with me.....and it's great!
Thanks for sharing :)

Beautiful and wonderful women..no matter what stage of life we are in...we are always transitioning. Grab those moments and hold them close to you. Your memories will sustain you through the hard times..so make some beautiful ones.
