| The Helicopter Has Landed

After a very hectic few days with Sunshine..and the college roommate situation..yesterday was a break from the norm. I had vowed not to contact her, as it is time to cut the strings and let her handle things for herself. This is not much of a struggle for me, I know she is strong and oh, so smart.
I went about my busy day..my licensing counselor made a surprise visit at breakfast time, and stayed an hour. She is a kind and wonderful woman..and we enjoyed our visit. She has a daughter who just graduated from college recently and was asking about Sunshine. Of course I filled her in on the nightmare that the last few days have been.
Around 4p.m. I get a text from Sunshine..The toothpaste works! Hmmm..Okay! that is good. I text back..What do you mean? Nothing..I text back..Are your teeth whiter? I get mmmmm. That is it..Nothing else all night. Ha! Guess she was too busy enjoying her newly clean mmmm feeling teeth. Ha! Glad all is well with you too honey! Ha!
We went to the first home game for our local high school team. I am ashamed to say that some of the children playing were in my daycare in past years Yikes..Getting old folks. We visited with several friends and enjoyed the game. Our team won..Woot!!
There is something about Friday night football..the atmosphere..the lights..the sounds..the excitement..that I love. I could go to a Friday night football game every night. Then of course it wouldn't be Friday night football..huh?
Hubby and I enjoyed some Mexican food before the game..and enjoyed the game itself. We managed to get through one night without a cross word. Yeah!! We then came home and watched Barrack Obama's acceptance speech from Mile High Stadium. Now that was fairly amazing..all those people..all that excitement.
Finally went to bed..and slept well. Which leads me to where I am now. I just wanted to update everyone on the things that are going on. My helicopter has landed and here is to praying that it does not need to take off again any time soon. I want both of my children to stand on their own two feet and use the moral values we raised them with to make good choices. They both have excellent potential..both are great young people with willing hearts and strong minds.
Side note: Rash left me quickly. Whatever I was allergic to..benadryl took care of it.
Have a wonderful weekend everybody!! and a Great Labor Day!!
peace :) shemelts

Even though the children leave the nest you should never cut ties. Be careful what you wish for. It can later bite you in the behind.

Good to hear the rash has cleared up. Allergic reactions can be alarming when yoiu aren't sure of the cause. I'm sure Sunshine is going to do quite well.

smvandiv...I would never cut ties with either of my children. My love for them is unconditional and everlasting. My wish for them is only that they find their way in the world and reach their full potential.
SO..thanks, yep I have allergic reactions sometimes..yuck!! I think you might be right about Sunshine.

Cutting the apron strings is certainly not the same as cutting ties. As a parent, we are obligated to raise independent, responsible children. Sounds to me that you have done a Great job and only wish the best for your children, and there is nothing wrong with that. Good for you, you needed a break. Glad to hear the rash is gone too and you and hubby are getting along....beautiful day when things finally fall into place!! :)
