It has been rather quiet around the house this week as my husband slowly recoups from his surgery. He has been a stellar patient so far and though it has been hard for him, he has basically laid around. The meds have played a few tricks on his mind(which was quite funny), but out of respect for him, I won't repeat them. Suffice it to say, this guy does not take any kind of medicine..ever.. and so he is totally looped out.
This weekend will be full as we plan to move our precious daughter home from college..and back into our lives full time. She is a true blessing and I look forward to the summer with her. I am hoping she finds at least part time employment as she needs some funds for a trip she will take in January.
My son will finish his sophomore year of highschool at the end of the month, and thus life changes again. I am also hoping he gets a job so he can purchase(with our help) his first car. The good Lord willing and the creek don't rise..this should be a good summer for all of us.
Wanted to relate a quick story for you that happened to me last night. I stopped at our favorite restaurant to pick up take out for me and hubby, as he is still on bedrest. Whilest waiting a beautiful young woman and her husband came to the front with their two children to pay for their food.
I had noticed this lady before in the restaurant eating with her family and one thing I noticed was how clean and well manicured her children were and just beautiful. Their clothes were clean and well fitting and their hair was well groomed. The lady herself was clean and dressed well, but morbidly obese.
You could tell she was self-conscious of her weight(as we all are) and would not make eye contact with me. Her little daughter danced around at her feet as her husband took their little son outside. I felt a real need to make a connection with this lady and compliment her in some way, that would make her feel accepted(we all need that you know). So, I said "ma'am..I have noticed you have the most beautiful children"..She smiled so big towards me and made eye contact, at which point I smiled back.
She said.."yes, they are a handful" and I said.."maybe a handful, but just precious". She left before I did with a smile on her face. It was a happy moment for me and then I went on with my night getting food and taking care of my husband. I don't know what her night held..but I am willing to bet that that little conversation..that little connection with another person, lifted her up. Now when I see her again at the restaurant with her little family..she will know I accept her and she will definitely make eye contact.
It is so easy to be kind to others, and to lift them up. It is so easy to just smile(even if you are struggling, or worried)and make people feel accepted. Every day we have that opportunity and if we take it, we reap the benefits. Smiles are contagious and kindness is contagious.
Hope you have a great day..and a wonderful weekend. Whereever you are and whatever you are doing..You are worthy, and you are special.
Take care of you and lift people up..
peace :) shemelts
