I like to talk to Indian people
Whenever I call United Airlines, I'm always relieved that on the other end of the phone is a curteous customer service representative with an Indian accent. For one thing, they are patient and don't sound annoyed when you ask them to look this up and that up. In contrast, I almost always cringe when I have to call up Frontier airlines. I mean, it's great that the customer service people speak English without an accent. But there's just something ingrained in that American attitude to make me feel rushed, looked down upon, and that I'm being an annoyance. Their tone starts to be curt and convey a need to move things along. I don't want to sound like all frontier representatives are nasty. No, often times they are very nice and helpful. It's just that I notice there is a higher probability of feelingĀ  belittled when I call frontier. And I have a 1% chance of feeling the same way when I call united. There is a tremendous difference between the Indian and American idea of customer service. With all the gripe about outsourcing, I'm truly appreciative of our Indian counterparts.
