Yippee.....it's friday!!!!
Not that for me friday is a big deal, because I work Saturdays...but atleast for my daughter, she can sleep in tomorrow, relax, no stress of homework, hang with friends, and do all the fun things that are so much easier during the summer.
I had an interesting conversation with my daughter last night when I got home from work. I was talking with her about school, and how she really doesn't like being there. She is your average B student, the occasional C. She tries hard, is respectful, and diligent at getting done her work. She's loved by most everyone. She's just a genuinely easy going gal, who unfortunately goes to school because it is mandatory, not because she wants to be there. She could care less about getting up, and dislikes most of what she learns. But none the less she does it, with very little complaining. Only when I ask her, will she tell me how much she can't wait for it to be over, so she can do what she loves. Photography. We just bought a beautiful Nikon D40x. And she is head over heels in love with her camera.
So....the conversation, as it seems I easily get off track. I asked how she felt about really busting her butt, and graduating a year early so she can go to college a year earlier and do what she loves. At first she was more like "Oh, my god." telling me how hard and how much work it would be. But the more I talked about it, as just a thought, nothing is set in stone. The more she liked the idea of being done with high school, and on with a life and education she will love.
I'm not sure how far this will go, if we will be able to make it happen or not. But I do know, that I love being able to throw out crazy ideas with my children, and have wonderful indepth conversations, and engage in their dreams with them. What a gift having children is.
