 HE TOLD ME ALL I EVER DID.
[43]

THE SAMARITAN WOMAN

Read: John 4:1–42

And many of the Samaritans of that city believed in Him because of the word of the woman who testified, "He told me all that I ever did." John 4:39 NKJV
* * *
This story is one of the most beloved illustrations of grace in the New Testament. The setting was in Samaria where the religion was a mixture of idolatry with a smattering of Jewish influence. The Samaritan woman knew about a promised Messiah, but she lived a sinful life and Jesus kindly confronted her with her sin. In a conversation about "living water" she came to realize that this was the Messiah she had heard about. She said, "I know that Messiah" (called Christ) "is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us." Then Jesus declared, "I who speak to you am he." (4:25-26)
* * *
Sometimes we think that people mixed up in cultish religions are unreachable with the gospel. In fact, they may be searching for the truth just as the woman at the well. She …went back to the town and said to the people, "Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Christ?" (4:28-29 NIV)
* * *
Lord, help me to share my faith with people regardless of how impossible it seems, trusting in the work of Your Spirit in their hearts.
* * *
Then they said to the woman, "Now we believe, not because of what you said, for we ourselves have heard Him and we know that this is indeed the Christ, the Savior of the world." John 4:42 NKJV

o wow 2 broken engagements? but you did not let that get in the way of finding true happiness...i believe now that the reasons why i have had this fallen relationship, who he is a marine deployed right now, was that God knows i need a man with a stronger relationship with christ. he needs to bare his fruit and try to be more like christ. my last relationship he was saved in bootcamp and got baptised right before he was deployed but he still had many habbits and ways of a unbeliever and i started to feel he has not truely given his life and heart to the lord i know he believes but i need a guy that wants to go to church and read the bible and seeks Gods counsel not his marine friends who are not saved and all they do is drink whenever they are not firing a gun. anyways i am getting off subject but your testomony has given me hope. sometimes we date the wrong people so we can be more appreciative when we are with the right one...thanks again for your words of wisdom!

"sometimes we date the wrong people so we can be more appreciative when we are with the right one..."

This was definitely the case for me so many years ago. By the time I met my husband to be I appreciated his qualities more than I would have if I had not experienced the lack of them. He was obvious in his affection for me and in earlier days I was put off by someone who came on too seriously at first. That one quality along with other things have been very nice to have in a husband! Sometimes you are just too young to make those judgements. What looks great in a boyfriend might not have the enduring qualities to make a marriage great.

For those who are reading these comments, we are discussing my comments of Mmeesh11's blog.

It is my desire that through these devotional posts other people will be able to say like the men of Samaria,

"Now we believe, not because of what you said, for we ourselves have heard Him and we know that this is indeed the Christ, the Savior of the world."

I believe that there are many more people rich and ready to be harvested to the gospel than any time before. Many many people are searching and since we carry the light of the Lord, it is our responsibility and privilege to seek them out and share that light.
Wonderful post
