Keep praying and love him just as he is without trying to change him. Only God can change hearts and the more you love and accept and encourage him, the more the way will be clear for God to work.

A week of highs and lows on Thoughts on 2008-04-27 15:54:15 |
|
thanks for leaving a comment on my blog. Last year when my father passed away I inherited all his mother's journals. Reading through them was a wonderful way to grieve my parents. Grandma wrote in her diary every time she talked to my folks on the phone, so it had snippets of my life and my sisters and brothers who were younger. so I actually found out what happened after I went off to college and got married. Her life was very ordinary, but just reading that she put in a load of laundry or cooked dinner for a neighbor friend made the ordinary things of life take on a storybook quality. Kind of like when I used to read the children's book "Heidi" I could just taste the goats milk, bread and cheese and hear the wind through the pine trees. I think in spite of the wonders of blogging, we are probably losing something of the magic of real letters and journals. But we do get to share with more people this way!
Just my thoughts! :)

I loved this story Alice. You really should get back to posting. I did some posts on my blogspot site about how the seed of desire for ministry grew into blogging. I think this URL will take you to the posts on my one month anniversary at blogspot.

THE FIRST MIRACLE on 2008-04-24 09:10:35 |

Thank you for stopping by Alice. Writing these devotional posts have been such a blessing to me as I have allowed the Lord to speak to my heart - and so much more to have this way of sharing with others. I would never have dreamed when I started out writing years ago that there would be a way to share with people all over the world just by sitting at my desk!

I have been reading several of your blogs and I just feel led to pray for you to trust the Lord in some of these areas of your life, particularly driving yourself rather than resting in the Lord. Running and eating healthy are good things - but the anxiety and fear behind them may be something only the Lord can help you overcome. And I truly believe He can. You may enjoy my website at http://devotionalprayerjournal.blogspot.com/ My devotions there and at my thoughts site are written to model a way of praying that applys the Bible to everyday life. I have come to trust His Word as I have shared it with my grown children who also love the Lord. Their pictures are in the sidebar of my main blog.

"And you sound like you are trying to convince yourself that non-believers have something to prove. If I don't believe in anything, what is there for me to prove?"
What a sad empty life it would be if one did not "believe in anything." I was interested that you mentioned the belief that the universe will come to an end when you die.
One thing is certain, your belief or lack of it gives you no reason to care about other people.

You are right that children grow up so fast. Our four are now married and now we number 23! What a blessing they are when they grow up to love the Lord. You might enjoy visiting my blog AND NOW THEY'RE GROWN at

You have been unbelievably disrespectful of your father and of others who disagree with you. I am so sad because I have three grown sons who love and respect their Dad and speak well of him to others. My husband and sons have advanced degrees in Science and also believe the Biblical account of creation. My husband has a Phd in Physics and made it through school without losing his faith.
You call yourself Freethinker, but you will only really be free to think if you turn from your sin and find forgiveness. If you can think clearly when you read this you might consider Jesus words in John 8:31-36
Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, "If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
They answered Him,"We are Abraham's descendants, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How can You say, 'You will be made free'?"
Jesus answered them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin, and a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.

When death comes knocking on 2008-04-15 13:22:35 |

Jason, I read some of your comments on another person's blog this week and this morning as I posted on one of my other blogs I couldn't get you out of my mind. As I opened this entry of yours I have to wonder if the Lord - who loves you - has brought you to mind. Some of the most ardent followers of Jesus at one time thought they hated him. Jesus was talking to some of those when he told the story I entered today at http://www.bloglines.com/blog/CharlotteMathis.

Everyone is a Hypocrite... on 2008-04-13 22:37:14 |

Dear Cas33, This is a great blog expressing what being a Christian is all about. My husband is a Physicist and a believing Christian and Creationist. The laws of Physics are more consistent with creation than evolution. But the trouble is, when you admit there may be a Creator, then there comes the question of being accountable to Him. But the beauty of it all is that the God who created the universe sees me - and knew all about me - and about Cya before we wer born. He has a loving plan for your life Cya, I pray you will discover it.
