| As I Lay Dying Sequel (In My Wake) |
Dewey Dell: I knowed they wasn't gon' work. Even as I set there in that wagon with Vardaman headin' on back, I knowed they wasn't like to work. But I took'n the pills anyway cuz I reckon this was one of them desperate times in a life lived. I reckon I ain't quite worked out what to tell pa. Like'n as not i'll be showin' in a month or two. Ain't but so much I could tell him to splain this away.I reckon I outta'na come clean. I reckon it be 'bout right to tell pa the truth soon as he gets back from returnin' that shovel he borrowed.
