| Do fat people encourage others to be fat?

This is a question I have asked myself and actually discussed with my sister. Please excuse me if the term "fat" offends anyone. I consider myself "fat" or overweight if you will.
My sister and I were talking and I told her that I did not choose friends because of their looks and weight. I choose friends based on who they are. She said that she did not wantg fat friends because they make you fat. She argued that instead of doing active things they might want to sit and eat or may not make healthy decisions when it comes to food. She said that could rub off. I told her I had a friend that weighs 300+ lbs and when she fixed me a plate of food, it was enough for 3 or 4 people. I almost made myself vomit trying to eat it. She said that proved her point.
I am now 18 weeks pregnant and I have lost about 15 lbs. My doctor keeps on me about eating and not loosing weight. I was almost 220 lbs when I became pregnant. I am 5'8". When I look at my pictures, they disgust me. I look like a fucking balloon. Anyway, when I was pregnant before, a different ob/gyn (who was skinny) said loosing weight was not a concern as I was already overweight. She just said to eat smaller meals if I felt sick when I ate. This ob/gyb is overweight as I am and is dissapointed everytime she weighs me and I have lost weight. She says I must not be eating enough and that I need to gain the weight back.
So I am wondering whether overweight people enocourage others to be the same whether it be consciously or sub consciously? Please, don't take offense to this. I was just wondering what others think.

Doc's usually know best....having said that, I have had 3 pregnancies. All three babies were of good weight and healthy. With one of my pregnancies, I only gained 10 pounds total. Yes, you read that right. 10 lbs. Just eat normal. Dont overeat. Your baby will do just fine without you having to put on pounds. (Personally, I would just nod at the doc and do you're own thing.) Every doc you go to has a different philosophy.....and you can too, as long as you are putting your baby first. Good luck!
Oh, and yes, i agree with your sister. Unless of course, you and your friends are encouraging each other to get healthy!

Greetings Sexykellitrent:
Congratulation on your pregnancies. May you have a healthy baby and you and your husband give this baby all the love that you can muster up.
Now as for your weight, the first thing you must decide is weighting 220 pounds healthy for you and is that where you want your weight to be or do you want it to be something less. Once you make that decision, you then can determine the next step in your future weight program.
The most important thing in what your weight should be is your health. Been to large and be unhealthy as well as been to small can be unhealthy.
Once you make that decision, good eating habits and exercise is the next step. Eating the right kinds of foods even right now durning your pregnancies is so important for the baby's health as well as your own.
Good luck and do enjoy this great bundle of joy that is on it's way.
Much love,
Davis
