How do you serve your community?

So, I am trying to figure out what the service outlook is in the Saint Louis area. How do people serve their community? Who is doing service? Why are they serving?

What about the rest of the country? The world?

The reason I am asking these types of questions is that I recently signed up to be on a team that enables people to serve through my church, First Evangelical Free Church of St. Louis County. I have a desire to serve because I am a follower of Jesus Christ and try to use his life as an example for mine. He served his community. That was most of what he did in life. He also taught, but there are oters with that gift. In the end, Jesus did the ultimate service project, dying for my sins. And yours.

So, in an effort to create some great service opportunities, I am trying to find out why people serve. What they do to be of service. Find out if people serve just in their immediate community or if they travel to be of service.

Service should be a daily mindset, not a random project.
