Taking the time to go somewhere you've never been can do wonders for the morale. I had to go to a low vision clinic today at a place where I had never been before. Guess maybe that doesn't sound too exciting but hey, doesn't take much to excite me. :)
St. Louis has problems but I have to say that their transportation system is one of the very best I've ever seen. And the metro link (city train) is a lot of fun.
Anyway, I went to the low vision clinic and expected the usual testing and blah, blah, blah. With my vision problem there is nothing anyone can do so all of the testing (except once a year to check for infections, etc.) isn't going to change anything. What IS neat about a low vision clinic is that you get to see all of the latest visual aides. Yes, they do come up with something every now and then :)
This doctor was awesome. We did nothing but talk for an hour. He showed me some things that may be of use to me but most importantly he understood my visual limitations and how they affect my vision. I haven't found a doc like that in years. It was certainly a pleasant experience and now I can look forward to getting some new "toys" soon to make my life more pleasant. :)
Thought for the day:
Get out of the rut and do something different.
