 E-mail junk
Hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving :)

I want to talk about e-mail etiquette, as I see it.  I could be wrong and if you think I am, please feel free to disagree :)

First of all, I think e-mail is for messages from people....period.  I never expect, when I give my e-mail address to someone to start receiving every piece of junk mail and cutesy thing they come across.  I am really sick of "send this to everyone you know" or "send this back to the person who sent it to you and pass it on" or a gigabyte of cute photos all in one e-mail.  (I'm on cable and still takes forever).

What's wrong with just writing?  Also, would it be too much of a hardship to ask someone if they want to receive these kinds of things?

When you get an e-mail that has been forwarded 47 times and you have to click through 47 e-mails to get to the original you're putting your computer and your e-mail address at risk (not you, whoever sent it to you).  If you forward it to anyone else you're doing the same thing to them.  You can reply all to any of these messages and have everyones e-mail address on the list.  You can hack their computers, send them spam, anything you want to do.  You have a customized contact list for all kinds of mischief.

Please think about what you're doing.  Use some common e-mail etiquette and ask permission.  And please don't forward any of these things.

Thought for the day:
Start the day with a smile...it feels much better than a frown, even if you don't feel like smiling

hi lady!
u r priceless!
you're saying what everyone thinks (and in the damn nicest way i've ever heard in my life!!)
anyway - that's why you have 'public' and 'private' emails - ones that you give out and ones that you don't. yes, it's a big hassle but that's just the way life is in the internet age :o(
cheers!
