| Quote of the Day 07/22/08

The only stable state is the one in which all men are equal before the law.
--Aristotle
I'm pretty sure this isn't talking about the law being held differently to different people on the basis of skin color, or income. That being the case, according to Aristotle, our law is not stable. For example taxing one group more than another in terms of percentage, and allowing things like "equal oppurtunity" employers/schools, means that certain people will get jobs or admission on the basis of them being a minority, rather than their own actual skill.
Any other thoughts on this quote or even my statement?

I guess no one is above the law - pauper or king we are all responsible for our own actions.

Unless the law itself is wrong. Henry David Thourough said, that when a law is unjust the only place for a just man, is prison.
