Never Trust a Government Further Than You Can Thro

We the people, of the united states of america, have become docile. We are taxed out of 1/3 of our annual earnings every year, and while their are parties that do most certainly contest this, the fact is that we let it happen in the first place, or how about this one... try seeing what you're neighbors, or cowororkers feelings on guns or weapons is. I don't even own a gun, I own a number of martial-arts weapons that require lots and lots of practice to even be practical, but I get looked at like I'm insane when I tell some people what I own. (Throwing Knives, numchucks, heavy chain, and one katana which is neither sturdy nor sharpened) Most of these weapons are illegal to carry on my person, the closest thing to a weapon I typically have is steel-toed boots, (which with a bit of martial arts, is a lovely combination). When I tell a coworker that list I get looked at like I'm completely insane, or a barabarian who only knows how to solve problems with violence. The fact is that, I am aware that violence will not solve anything in most situations. The martial arts weapons are more because numchucks and throwing knives are lots and lots of fun, not even practical in a real fight, just fun. (They are still dangerous, and it is easy to hurt yourself) The fact is that I should not be looked at like I'm insane, for owning means to defend myself with. The fact that I am looked at like I'm crazy for this is greatly disturbing to me.

It is very justified that we do not want murderers and madmen owning weapons, they are bad enough without the weapons. So the law has made it more difficult (with our permission) for people to legally purchase weapons. There is one problem with this... yes the government protects us from the big bad terrorists, and the big bad criminals, but who is currently protecting us from the big-bad government? I am not asking that you go do a terrorist attack, I am asking you to consider history, that the first thing any succesful dictatorship does before becoming a totatlitarian government is take weapons away from the people. Whereas on the opposite end of things if you want the country with the best homeland security program in the world check out switzerland, where the government not only issues fully automatic guns to its citizes, but requires that; every household owns one, that it be in working condition, and that someone in the house knows how to use it. This law is the reason Adolf Hitler did not take Switzerland, it was determined that it would be far too costly of a venture. Thus Switzerland was able to remain neutral ground during WWII (can you say "sanctuary"?).

So what can we do? First off, take notice of whats going on, read history, see how our country got to where it is, be active in politics, even if that means being an actavist. Register to vote... DO NOT LET ANY ONE TAKE YOUR RIGHTS AWAY.

One word "apathy".
Then there is a large amount of people who expect the "authorities" to take care of them. To protect them, to supply them with everything they want/need. To be independent and self reliant is unheard of.
Years back during the riots in Los Angeles, the businesses that were not looted and burned down were the ones that had armed people on the rooftops patrolling.
Looters tried that crap in our town and one fool was shot and flew out of the building. Not a good idea to rob a sports store. Word moved quickly and there was no further rioting in my town.
Guns are good. People are bad. Sometimes the combination is not a good one. Sometimes it is necessary.
BTW people look at you like you're crazy because they now know you could be a serious threat should you actually become crazy. I know, it's crazy.
