Words! A collection of seperate, individual symbols known as letters which, when joined together, only make sense because, like many others, I have been taught what each symbol means individually and collectively.
I always enjoyed words. My best subject at school was English and, although I dont quite remember it, I am assured that I used to 'read' the newspaper with my dad before I had even started school. I have always loved reading, growing up with the likes of Enid Blyton, Dr. Seuss, Tintin and Asterix the Gaul. Even now, I prefer writing which I can read with my mind rather than just my eyes.
Writing which conjures up imagery in your mind is fantastic. Your eyes scan over the words and, just like a computer, the scan is transformed into data which your mind converts to images. I can't begin to recall how many times I was off working up a sweat and adventuring with the Famous Five or the Secret Seven even although passing observors would have seen nothing more than a near comatose body, sitting in a chair, holding a book.
Throughout my after school years, I have always written something. At various times, I kept diaries and journals, wrote poems and articles, even the occasional short story. I have even had some of my work published and can claim to be a published writer but, instead of 'tooting my own horn', I sold it ages ago for a brand new pen and notebook. The closest similarity between me and "Real Writers" is that I cant NOT write, despite myself. Believe me, I have tried, have told myself that I just enjoy it but I can give it up at any time if I want to. Yea Right!
It would be a dream 'job' to be a full time writer of course, and I can see myself sitting at the computer screen in my little 'office' high on a cliff overlooking the secluded beach below, where i could write away to my hearts content, with the gentle sound of the surf in the background, stimulating my creativity. Roll on that lottery win!
Perhaps it's a natural progression, that I find myself here as an official addict of blogging and commenting on Thoughts.com. I looked at other blogging sites but came to this one quite by chance. I believe that everything happens for a reason though, even if we cant see the reasons a lot of the time, and already I have made quite a few friends here, (and one or two 'sparring partners' for debates too!), so that in itself has made the trip worthwhile.
I love reading others blogs and there is not many that dont hold some reading value to me, after all, everybody's thoughts are genuinely held beliefs of theirs and as such, are as valid as anyone else's. It's always very interesting too, to see the differing views held by others and I especially enjoy reading the philosophical/ religious/ spiritual blogs. It's nice to see that there are still people who believe in something outside of this world. Regardless of the reason, it's humbling and good to find genuinely nice people wherever and whoever they may be.
As Magnus Magnusson used to say on "Mastermind" - I've started so I'll finish, and I have started on this blogging experience thing and I'll finish when I cant type anymore. In the meantime, the rest of you all keep blogging away, providing me with things to read, and I'll probably never visit a library again.
Namaste.

I like your writings.
I know what you mean about writing.
I have written so many paper journals..since childhood.
I think I would call it my passion.
