I hated the Nazi regime and the idea of a "master race" is as stupid to me as toddlers ruling the world. The whole concept is as abhorrent and ignorant as the latter day white supremists, of which there are many spread across the world.
This sort of attitude also exists within religions of course, although to a lesser degree, thankfully. Where one group says, or holds the ideal that they are right and everyone else is wrong, where they think that they are "better" than others - there is always going to be problems.
Those who cant see that we ARE, in fact, ALL the same have some issues going on. They either cannot or will not see what is the truth, so indoctrinated are they to their 'beliefs'. The strange thing about these beliefs though is that if you get down to the basics, to the simple facts of the issue, their arguments for discrimination often fall back onto concepts. And as we on this site know, a concept is merely a thought, a belief. It does not necessarily have any concrete foundation, no reasonable explanation; It is nothing other than a personally held conviction, a belief. Not that I am knocking anyone's beliefs. Everyone is entitled to believe what they want and if they believe in something out with themselves, out with this world, with all its failings, then so much the better!
Two of the debates that often crop up in the forums are that of the place of Homosexuality in our society, and that of religion. There are very many 'scholars' who appear to be well versed in reading their bibles and interpreting them literally, in some cases. Just like fundamental Islamic zealots read their Quran and interpret the words literally. Yet, point that out to either side and they will argue why they are not the same thing at all.
Point out the very simple fact that any religion at all is based on an individuals personal conviction and belief in that religion and, again, there will be arguments raised as to why it is more than that. It is always the case when you challenge a person's belief system. Unless, of course, you accept that everyone has their own beliefs and their own path to follow in life. When you think like that, you can, at least, mentally wish them well realising that it doesn't matter whether they are heading towards Jesus Christ, Allah, Bhudda, Shiva or whoever, the fact that all of these preach tolerance, acceptance and understanding is far more important.
Does the good work done by a muslim become something less because it is not done in the name of Jesus? Does it matter if a Christian does not hold Allah uppermost in mind when doing something good for another?
Of course not! It is the source of the inspiration and motivation to do that good act in the first place that matters. That is ALL that matters!
We are all Spirits temporarily encased within a physical body. When that physical body dies, like it or not, that Spirit will carry on. That Spirit will go to the other side, where we all go. That Spirit is immortal, infallible, perfect. Yes, even that Spirit within "evil" people. It is the phsyical acts and actions here which mark them as "evil". What happens afterwards - is for another blog!
Similarly, while here in the physical body, we are all equal. Sure, people will argue that that is not the case due to wealth or lack of it, etc, etc. People will always argue to keep a tight hold on their limitations though, without even knowing they are doing it.
For those who feel that they are somehow "better" than anyone else here, let me say that I disagree. You are the same as anyone, as am I. I stand shoulder to shoulder with everyone else: The heterosexual war veteran, the homosexual still hiding in the closet, the rapist wasting away in prison, the fool who is so blind drunk he cannot see the battered and bloodied body of his wife cowering on the bed, the drunk driver who carries on along the road having just run over your dog, the peaceful pacifist who is despised by those who believe in the power of might - You and I are no BETTER than any of them!
If that offends or turns you off, I make no apologies but I will clarify that by saying that we are DIFFERENT to them. Semantics maybe, but look at the damaging power of words. We go to war based on words!
Each of us has a life experience, a path to walk. We cannot all be multi-millionaire's sunning ourselves off the coast of Florida on the deck of our yacht. The life experience we have though, is the one we create and the one which is necessary to our spiritual growth. No one said you have to understand it, you just have to live it and, using that free will you were given, make the best choices you can and, having made those choices, live with them and resolve never to make the same mistake again!
As you progress along your path, maybe not in this liftime, you will start to see what is really important. We can all have opinions and beliefs about what should be, or shouldn't be. We can all feel our emotions and react from that emotive point. We can all hold on grimly to what we think is important, even up until we die. Eventually, though, everyone will see what is really important. Eventually, everyone will stop seeing with just their eyes, will stop reacting to what they hear or think they hear, will stop being closed and isolated. Eventually, it will change.
It makes no difference to me what religion anyone is or what their beliefs are. Christian, Satanist, Bhuddist, Islamic, I accept them all. I accept them as being right for those who follow and believe. It doesn't mean it is right for me and, as long as they do not try to convert me, tell me I'm wrong and going to Hell or attack my beliefs unnecessarily, everything is fine. When they do that, they turn their back on their religion and their beliefs and work through their Ego, not their God.
In the same vein, I could not care less if you are a Homosexaul, a Bisexual, a Trisxeual or an Asexual. It means nothing to me if you are a women trapped in a mans body, a man trapped in a womans body or a chimpanzee trapped in a human body. What you do, is what you do. Just dont ask me to join in, to 'convert' or to be a part of your lifestyle.
I won't judge (much) and certainly wont tell you you are wrong, a sinner, a terrible bad person for being, doing this that or the other. Whatever you choose to do is up to you. Whatever you do is what you will need to live with, and perhaps, pay for later.
We may live in our detached houses, like fairytale princes and princesses in ivory towers, sometimes hardly even seeing our neighbors. We can jump into those little tin boxes we call cars and go to and from places without even having to speak to another soul, if we dont want to. We can even strut around in fancy clothes, looking down at the poorer dressed people and all the time, we can convince ourselve that we are "better" than some of the others we might come across. But there is one who knows that none of us are any better than any other. Guess who? That's the one you have to convince!
I said that I hated the Nazi regime - and I do, I mention this here to make a simple point. When I saw the photos and films of the gas chambers, with all those poor people lined up, naked, in a line, the very hair shorn from their heads, guarded and harassed by evil men dressed in black, men who had demonised these people - the thought crossed my mind that here were people from all walks of life, rich, poor, homeless, laborers and professionals, and yet you could not tell one from the other.
It was a terrible thing of course but isnt it strange that, in the midst of even that terrible tragedy that there should be a poignant message for all to plainly see - IF you have eyes to see.
We ARE ALL the same, in the eyes of whatever God or Goddess you believe in. It is only in mortal human eyes that there are differences.
Peace to all.
