It's all to easy to be cynical in this world and adopt the belief that everyone is guilty until proven innocent. We all know our governments and, in some cases, our partners would prefer it that way, but we need to stop and think why other people assume us to be guilty or, at best, rather suspect anyway.
In the case of the Government its because they have spun so many lies and trod on so many people that they have good reason now to be suspicious. In the case of friends, relatives, partners and co-workers, the assumption of guilt usually comes from some past negative experience which they have had and this has left its mark on their psyche' so that the ability to trust has been eroded within them.
Would we be able to offer trust in their place? Perhaps, but perhaps not. None of us can say with any certainty until, as the saying goes, we have 'walked a mile in their shoes'. If we can walk that mile and, at the end, still honestly and openly give our trust, then we can start to believe that we are the positive things others may say about us, not before!
