There are lots of little things that annoy and irritate us. We are human and it's the human way to not like everything and everyone, to want things and other people to be the way we want them to be rather than just accept that things and people are they way they are.
As fallible humans, we all make mistakes all the time. We tell ourselves we're going to learn and 'not make that mistake again', yet we do. Often. We get down and think badly of ourselves for making mistakes, little realising that its only through making mistakes that we ever learn anything. One of my pet peeves, is prefectionism!
Nothing in the physical world is, can or ever will be, "perfect". It was never meant to be like that and it never will be. It doesn't stop some people striving and trying to acheive that perfect quality though but, in doing so, they set themselves up for heartbreak, disappointment, failure even.
Some may seek the perfect relationship, the perfect job, the perfect time, the perfect child, the perfect parent, the perfect house, etc etc. When it comes to people especially of course, the perfect anyone cannot be found because they are alive in this imperfect world and by that fact alone, will never be perfect.
"God" made us all as imperfect creations so that, from the moment of birth, we could begin the journey back to perfection. We take that journey by discovering, by seeking, by asking, questioning, finding out for ourselves and reaching our own answers. We discover that we don't need our eyes to see, we don't need our ears to hear, we don't need our body to experience, to feel, to know.
We don't need to follow the same path as anyone else to 'find God'. We don't need to be part of a group or organisation - God sees us all individually, wherever and whoever we are. We don't need to be in a big group for him to see and take notice. We don't need to be in a church or chapel, go to mass or any service and listen to a religious preacher reading to us from a book.
Of course God sees those who believe and follow and pray and praise him at mass and services. He also sees the lone figure who simply honors his creations in other ways, be that by feeding a bird or placing a spider outside rather than killing it. He knows the good and the bad within all of our hearts and he loves us all anyway. He loves us all equally because he IS us and we ARE him!
Just as the father and mother give of themselves to create the physical child, so God gave of himself to us. When a child is created and brought into this world, the parents give a part of themselves to that creation. Science has proven this. What is less well understood is that every time a child is born, God gives of himself too. He gives the gift of Spirit within the child, without which life would not exist.
Physical creations can create physical creations. Only God can bestow life.
Medical science can articifially make a physical heart beat and physical lungs breathe. Only God can bestow life!
What has this to do with the original premise of Perfection?
The gift of life IS perfect. The spirit IS perfect. The Soul IS perfect. Perfection only exists in and comes from God but even the perfection he gifts to us is hidden within the imperfect physical body. It is by working through that phsyical shell that we may progress towards the perfect state of being, and that will only be possible when we have passed across the divide between this world and the next, once more.
Of course this probably won't change the perception of even one 'perfectionist' out there but if it helps even one to think of something else while they are busy striving to make a cushion be fluffed in exactly the 'right' way, then it will have been worth it.
Here's hoping everyone has an imperfect but absolutely brilliant weekend!! :)

Everyone took Forgetmeknot's comment as a joke...but she made an interesting point..that made me think.
What if we really are perfect?
God did create us...what if we are exactly how he wanted us to be?
The big lie being...we convince ourselves we have to change to become what we think he wants.
It makes no sense to me at all that he would make us one way and then be mad at us...and ask us to change.
If that were the case, why did he not just make us perfect in the fist place?
I agree with Forgetmeknot...I think we are perfect...just the way we are.
Good post Scotslad.
You always stretch my mind.
That is a good thing.
Namaste.
I've always looked at human beings like we are drivers of a car...we are limited on the amount of miles we can travel based on the limitations of the car we are in. Good post, Jim and good point Danielle.
does anyone know where the refresh button is???
Im exhausted trying to get in here, now I forgot what I was going to say
the badlydrawn stick man told me my problems would all go away if I could only get refreshed
I have to go to the store
Im all out of refreshments
be right back
im fresh out
If we are all perfect then what is the purpose of life? Life should be a journey of growth and discovery. Always new and exciting. I find I like the pursuit to perfection, the journey is always better than the destination. Ever hear the term 'lonely at the top'? Don't get there, it's lonely, icy and bare. Unfortunately, after that there is only downhill. Witness Britney Spears, 'death of a salesman' wrapped in music. I love working on myself in the gym, where the body is a temple, and should be worked on. You say 'namaste' and I like this as a step to nirvana. Ciao, lover.
