Out with the old and in with the new!
The end of the year is fast approaching and we can all look back on the good and the bad in our own individual lives and on a wider scale, over the last year. For most people, I think its a safe bet to assume that its not been a complete catastrophic tragedy, nor has it been like heaven on earth. It will have been 'fair to middling' (aka average) for most people.

There may have been things we want to achieve, some we might even have made happen, others we might have put off or deferred for one reason or another. The point is to focus on what did happen, especially the good stuff and just let the bad stuff, the stuff that didnt quite make the grade, rest to the side. There's always tomorrow after all....!

Two of the best things that happened to me this year were two of the things that I hadn't even planned, never mind think about. That was being included on a trip to Las Vegas and meeting some very exceptional, very nice, special people. That wouldn't have happened had I not found this site and quickly became addicted to it - and I DO mean addicted!!

My initial plans for this year were to focus on more professional style writing and getting some sort of a track record for my work. One way to do that is to have a blog (or two) where you can refer people to go take a look at what and how you write. I trawled through the web, checking out the blogging sites, seeing how they looked, what the bloggers wrote about and, most importantly, how the site "felt" to me.

Could I see myself writing there? Would I be happy referring people to that site? Did the site offer me what I really needed and wanted? All of those questions went right out of the window when I came here though. My instinct 'told me' that THIS was the place for me, and it has been.

Not only have I received the gifts of the trip and making new friends but I've also received some good feedback, through comments, and engaged in some great debates and discussions which, at times, have even became quite heated, though thankfully have never 'boiled over'.

I have discovered that the best things that happen are often the things that are not planned in life. We all have targets, goals, things we want to do and achieve but its often the things that sort of creep up on us that give us the most lasting pleasure and benefit.

Thoughts.com has given me pleasure. It has also given me friends, valuable writing experience, and one of the healthiest addictions I could ever hope to have, (I used to be a smoker and I wasnt always tee total), so it has longer term benefits too. I know Im not alone in this either!

Contrary to what you might be thinking, this isn't a blog sucking up to TS, they know they're good and we appreciate them. This blog is simply to pass on the message that good things DO happen, often when your least expecting them, but they DO happen. You can carry on doing what your doing and making your plans but all you have to do is keep an open mind, as full of positive expectation as you can muster, and then let "God" or whoever/ whatever do the rest. Make that your first 'resolution' for next year and let the cr*p of this year fade into a dim and distant memory.

Good luck and good cheer, Merry Christmas and a Happy new year to you all!

I think it's writers like you that make thoughts a great past-time. I enjoy your posts even though I don't always comment because usually what I would have written has already been said but I do enjoy reading your posts and I think you should keep it up.

We can't plan life, but we can live it. Vegas was such a good happening, wasn't it, Jim? Great post, my friend.

I am glad that you found this place as well.
I am also thankful for this haven in the world.
This site is truly a haven.
It holds so many beautiful people that I would have never known in my lifetime, if we were not brought together through this site.
This is truly a meeting place for the souls.
Namaste.
I am sucking up to Staff, I have always been a teacher's pet.
I LOVE YOU THOUGHT'S STAFF!
You are one of a kind.
So are you my dear Scotslad.
Namaste.
