John Lennon once said, "LIfe is what happens to you while your busy making other plans!", and he was right. You can be quite happy in your own little world, (or think you are), daydreaming the days away, wishing and hoping for something better but never really believing its gonna come along when all of a sudden, it does. And when it does, you better be ready!
The better thing that happened to me came in the form of a teacher from Pennsylvania and she taught me more than she might ever know. From the early days of our meeting, I felt as if I had put out my hands and caught a rare butterfly. Yet, in the catching, I was afraid to hold on too tightly in case it got crushed but also too scared to not hold tight enough in case it (she) flew away again forever.
Such a rare occurrence only ever happens once in a lifetime and, this time at least, I was aware that the opportunity had presented itself and I sure wasn't going to pass it up this time. Here was life happening to me while I was busy making other plans but the life that was happening was much more than could have dreamed of, even if I wasnt completely in control of most of it.
Like the first welcome Tornado, she came along, turned my world upside down and made me look with new, fresh eyes at my life and where I was going with it. She began to occupy my waking and sleeping hours and I lost more and more sleep thinkign about her and staying up late to talk to her. Eventually we met and I knew then that no matter where my life was going, I wanted it to be going where she was headed too.
It's all a crazy great big adventure and we need to learn to just go with the flow and enjoy what we can along the way. If we can find someone really uniquely special to make the trip with us, so much the better. I did, (despite my doubts of ever doing so), and I'm thrilled to be such a lucky guy and excited at the shared experiences of life we have ahead of us, but we'll be facing them together.
Love is forever, but once in a lifetime, that really special human being comes along who helps you to actually understand what the word means. Thank you to my Teacher, to my one love, Danielle. I love you!!
