Murder of an innocent?

I had had a pounding headache all day. One of those ones where bashing your head against the wall would lessen the pain. The two packs of painkillers hadn't even touched it and now, to make matters worse, he had appeared downstairs beside me, making that god awful noise.

I thought I had left him upstairs in the bedroom because I hadn't heard him and assumed he was maybe fast asleep but now, here he was. The noise he was making just bugged me and it was all I could do to stop from cussing out loud.

It was just one of those days.

I knew I should be more tolerant, more accepting. I was bigger and much stronger than him of course and I really never wanted to hurt him at all. If he had went outside then it need never have happened but, of course, he seemed to like my company and so he hung around, moving back and forward round the room and always, always making that terrible, horrible noise that just seemed to stretch my nerves to almost breaking point.

Finally, I could stand it no longer. I began to see red. My headache blinded me to what was right and all I knew was that I had to make that noise stop. I was lost and I knew it.

Slowly, I reached out my hand and picked up the nearest weapon just as he came to a stop at my side. I turned my head, very very slowly, looking down at him and could only imagine his huge wide eyes staring back up at me with that look of innocence.

In that instant, I hated myself but the pain throbbing inside my head urged me on. It had to be done. I had no choice, no choice......

Wtih a swift movement that even suprised me, I raised my hand and brought the weapon down on his head. It was quick, hard, brutal but it was over in an instant and I knew that he could have felt no pain. It was small comfort as I sat there next to the evidence of my evil deed.

With a hearfelt sigh, I looked back down at his tiny, lifeless body and thought to myself, "Ah well,  another fly bites the dust....!"
