I have always tried to live by a very simple philosophy. You have probably heard of it before, it is the KISS principle. That is....
Keep It Simple Stupid!!
Those "The idiots guide to...." books were written with me in mind and even those are sometimes too wordy for my liking. I prefer thiongs to be simple, easy, flowing - like they should be. Thats one of the reasons I tend to stay away from flat pack furniture whenever I can. I can usually build whatever it is but those instructions and the "extra" screws left over at the end freak me out and Im just waiting for the whole thing to collapse at any moment.
The same applies to other things in life. For instance, church sermons. If your going to try and preach I think it is much more effective if its short, sweet and to the point. Lengthy sermons tend to leave me space to let my mind wander and allow some of the congregation to fall asleep. I've almost been tempted to nod off myself for forty winks (but thankfully haven't done that in church since I was about five years old).
In respect of reading and books, (even blogs), if it doesn't catch my interest fast or if it seems too long and the words in the first part seem boring to me, then I lose interest and move on. The watch word to me is, you you guessed it - K.I.S.S. I usually try to stick by that principle too when it comes to my own writing and commenting too, although Im not too sure I often make it.
In my beliefs, its still KISS for me. Sure there are religions with This God and that Goddess and this Saint and that apostle, etc, etc but to me, all of that is just way too involved and complex. I believe that there is a Creator (Spirit) from which all other things come and to which all things will return and thats that. The good, the bad, and the indifferent - all made from the same place and all headed back there. Its simple and it works for me.
I pray and do all the Spiritual 'stuff' but my beliefs largely come through my personal experiences. I feel/ sense the energy of Spirit and use that in my daily life. Thats how I got into the whole 'energy healing and manipulation' field in the first place. I feel it, move it, heat it, cool it, whatever it takes to help. Its simple but it works.
Im a simple guy and what you see really IS the real me (dissapointed yet?). It might not work for everyone, and I accept that but for me - K.I.S.S!! lol
Happy holidays everyone, hope you all have a simply wonderful time. |

You know Jim, I was going to write a lengthy bit of prose on how much i enjoyed this entry, but now after giving some thought as to what the subject matter of your essay, or blog as we call it, was, I think I will get right to the point and let you know, and the whole world for that matter, that I think the KISS philosophy should be taken to heart by one and all, or in other words...good post.
