We live in a throw-away world where nothing is as it seems and instant gratification is the goal. Even the price of human life is cheap. People are disatisfied with life but are unwilling or unable to change it. When was the last time you saw a stranger in the street just smiling as they went about their business?
In the cities, we walk along the dirty, gray, garbage strewn streets, thick with pollution, our minds wandering elsewhere. We wander past countless thousands of nameless, faceless people, half of whom don't even register in our awareness. We dodge past the crowd of huddled smokers standing outside the door of the pub and try to dodge the irate 'road-rage' drivers who dont seem able to even see pedesatrians.
Everyone has a list of what's wrong with the world and they are all similar in what they say, but where is the list of what's right with the world? I hear people say that it is like this because people like to read about salacious gossip. They prefer to see whats wrong than whats right. Well, I say Rubbish!! People have been conditioned into thinking that this is what they want because that is all they ever get. From the soaps on TV to the newspapers and news stations, bad news is all they ever get!
If you were to take two people and put each into a seperate room and 'feed' them good or bad news, then that is what they will start to believe is 'normal' and not only believe it, but actually want more of it. When you swap it over and feed the bad news to the person getting the good news, they will become depressed, disheartened, low. When you feed the good news to the one receiving the bad news, they will look at it through a sceptics eyes, full of cynicsim that any good news is even possible at all. The real difference between the two is that when the person who sees only the bad news, hears some more bad stuff they will feel vindicated in their beleif that 'everything is bad'. However, even when you feed bad news to the one who sees the good, they may feel disheartened but they will still believe that there is good news 'out there'.
Look at our youth, for example. How many reports of good things the youth do are reported? It's not because they don't do anything good, they do. In the UK, there are lots of different projects up and down the country where young people are doing great stuff - but its never reported. For example, there is one where young people are engaging in community care work, doing shopping and chores for elderly people. Another is doing ground work, that is tidying gardens and keeping the local area looking clean and tidy. None of it is widely reported!! However, let one youth step 'out-of-line' almost anywhere in the country and it's in half a dozen newspapers by the next day, stating how youth are running out of control.
This all happens of course because the media only care about getting a profit, its just too bad whose lives are ruined in the process of getting that. It's also because it suits people like the Government, etc., because while the ordinary people are all squabbling amongst themselves then they will never present a credible threat of opposition to the 'powers-that-be'.
Mostly though, it all happens because of us. Individually and collectively, the world is "that bad" because of the way we think, because of the way we are manipulated, and allow ourselves to be manipulated. Individually, life is wonderful, the earth is beautiful; Collectively, it's not. We are all here together, sharing this experience of physical life. We can all have different opinions and ideas and we can all share them and discuss them. If we start to fight about them, we regress back from the right to call ourselves 'humanity'. All the wars ever fought, all the people ever killed, all the blood ever spilled, amounts to nothing more than a single drop of water in a vast ocean of consciousness, of Spirit. It only matters to those involved in it and it only matters att that time because, that too, will pass into nothingness.
War and fighting is bad news, of course, as is so much else. What you are fed, what you believe in, what you think will mark out what you do, how you live and what your experience of life shall be. We all have a choice; To focus on only the bad news or to focus on the good. That does not mean neglecting one in favor of the other though. It means only that even if you see a lot of bad news caused by others, in and around the world you can still choose to not pass it on. Pass on only the good news instead. At first, there are those who will not listen, the cynics, but the more you pass on the more it will sink in to their conscious awareness and they too will become more aware of the good.
Peace, Love and Light friends.
